In basketball, they say that height is might. But in the basketball simulation video game “NBA 2K15,” tall post players were not able to use their height advantage over smaller players by posting up down low.
All that is going to change with the upcoming “NBA 2K16” as tall, talented rebounders and post players will finally be rewarded when the video game unravels on the gaming consoles and the PC late in October this year, coinciding with the opening of the NBA 2015-16 season.
Zach Timmerman, producer of “NBA 2K16,” in his latest post on Twitter, said that the upcoming video game will have 32 new backdown animations to help tall post players dominate their opponents in the shaded lane, cites the Latin Post.
They will finally be able to use their given height advantage over their defenders as they back down players in the post.
Although they are not as flashy or conspicuous in the video game as the pure shooters and playmakers, post players are still key players in the game so giving them the proper moves down low would further make the game more exciting and attune to real basketball action.
Game publisher 2K Sports has yet to make any statement or announcement on what these new backdown animations are or how would they look in the video game but it is likely moves of NBA big men using their size to back their opponents in order to get closer to the basket and make the shot.
Foldable cover
The “NBA 2K16” shall reportedly have three different covers when it’s released later this year. Accordingly, the cover will either have Stephen Curry, James Harden, or Anthony Davis in it. The three NBA superstars are MVP contenders in the current NBA season, with Curry eventually winning it.
Depending on who their favorite player is among the three NBA superstars, buyers of “NBA 2K16” can choose their video game cover because it will come with foldable inserts enabling them to swap covers as they prefer.
2K Sports has also enlisted the help of director Spike Lee, a die-hard New York Knicks fan, for the development of the career mode. The MyCareer mode in “NBA 2K16” will follow a character created by 2K Sports as he tries to work his way up the ladder possibly leading to a successful NBA career.
According to Lee, the feature will follow a top high school player who shall go through trials and tribulations as he enters the NBA and the decisions he make onwards becoming a legitimate NBA superstar.
Keeping the tradition
“NBA 2K16” will keep the tradition of the franchise to constantly provide regular update patches that often brings roster changes and gameplay tweaks and improvements, which was quite apparent with “NBA 2K15” with the exception of a recent glitch where it congratulated the Cleveland Cavaliers for winning the NBA championship after Game 3 of the NBA Finals last week.
The updates also bring forth locker codes, attribute and accessory improvements, and bug fixes. More than gameplay improvements, these regular roster updates is what makes the “NBA 2K15” very dynamic and almost similar to the league itself.
