Narcos Fans Can Look Forward to Seasons 3 And 4, Don Berna to Replace Pablo Escobar!

It has been officially announced by Netflix that Narcos will be returning for two more seasons after the second one. Showrunner Eric Newman declared that it shouldn’t be a surprise to people to know that they have been planning this for a long time.

According to him, the show leaves certain follow-ups that can be easily pursued. The Hollywood Reporter spoke with Newman regarding the future of Narcos.

He mentioned that when looking at the history of Colombia’s cocaine, the conclusion that can be drawn is that the Cali cartel helped in the dismantling of the Medellin cartel and benefited by upgrading themselves to the Number 1 position from Number 2. They were dismantled over a period of two years and then another cartel took their place.

The Narco kingpins have a certain revolving aspect to them, and the show is going to exploit it. From the beginning itself, they decided to call this show Narcos and not Pablo Escobar. It’s because they had a vision of continuing with the story of cocaine. He wanted to unfold the story of a drug war and not just focus on one person.

Eric Newman declared that they don’t wish to replace Escobar. They wish to delve deep into the systemic effects located within Colombia and the corruption related to cocaine. Pablo Escobar positioned himself as an outlaw and Cali was a major part of that system.

They had proceeded to buy their way in and enjoyed a certain amount of protection, apparently more than Pablo. The people who loved Pablo protected him while on the other hand; Cali was safeguarded by a political and economic system that had been cleverly built by them.

The Cali has four godfathers, the brothers Miguel and Gilberto, Pacho Herrera and a fourth colourful character named Chepe. It isn’t too surprising to expect that all four of them meet with bad endings. However, the process of getting there is where the fun lies. They will end up being a major part of season 3.

Meanwhile, Narcos Season 2 has already hit Netflix over the weekend, and it revealed the fate of Pablo Escobar while hinting at further tales involving the cocaine cartels of Colombia. Netflix confirmed that season 3 and four would definitely happen with Jose Padilha and Eric Newman staying as producers.

Season 3 of Narcos will release on Netflix next year. Before Season 2 released, the duo candidly spoke about their plans for continuing this series. Padilha revealed that they would stop when the drug trade stops and Newman further added that they’d stop when we stop, and that is their pact with America.

When speaking about the second season, the producers revealed that the show was changed fundamentally with the way in which they focused on 18 months of Escobar’s life, compared to fifteen years.

It allowed them to slow things down and focus more on the characters than they did in the last season. Newman told the trade that they are now witnessing the collapse of Pablo Escobar’s drug empire.

Narcos Season 4

After the demise of Pablo Escobar in Netflix Season 2, fans can expect a great change with the show. Pablo Escobar, played by Wagner Moura, passed away in Season 2 and people are currently speculating about who will replace his post.

According to rumours circulating online, Don Berna, as played by Diego Fernando Murillo, will replace Escobar. He was Escobar’s former associate and helped in the formation of PEPES with the sole objective of eliminating the drug kingpin. Don Berna took the Medellin after Escobar’s death and created smaller cartels all over the country.
