Motorola Moto G3 Breeds a Slightly Higher-Specs Version Called Motorola Moto G Turbo Edition in India, More Details

Some four months after the official release of the Motorola Moto G3 in August, the company has announced a slightly higher-specs version of the smartphone in India officially called as the Motorola Moto G Turbo Edition.

A mid-range smartphone, the Moto G Turbo Edition was announced in India this week and shall come out with a price of about 14,500 Indian rupees or US$216.

The Moto G Turbo Edition comes with dust resistance and fast-charging feature. It also has a faster processor and better battery life compared to the base Moto G3 model. The even better news is that it is cheaper than the Motorola Moto X Play, which comes at a cost of 19,999 Indian rupees or $298, details The Indian Express.

Before it was announced in India, Motorola also unveiled the Moto G Turbo Edition in Mexico. The smartphone features a hardware that comes shoulder-to-shoulder with the Moto X Play.

Because of the price difference, the camera and the battery of the Moto X Play are slightly better than that of the Moto G Turbo Edition.

Features and specifications

The Motorola Moto G Turbo Edition features a 5-inch HD display with 1280 x 720 screen resolution. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, with an option for expansion via a microSD card slot.

It also features a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with an LED flash and 5-megapixel front-facing snapper. Just like its base model, the Moto G Turbo Edition includes the usual connectivity options including 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, 3G, GPS, and microUSB, details Tech 2.

It is powered by a 2,470 mAH battery and comes with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box. It is likely that it can be upgraded to Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

The Moto G Turbo Edition also comes with an IP67 certification which means it can be submerged into a static water of up to 1 meter for half an hour without any worry of damage.

Its base model, the Moto G3 comes with an IPX7, which means that it has not been tested against dust resistance.

A massive leap forward

The Motorola Moto G3 is an evolutionary upgrade over the first generation Moto G by taking a massive leap forward hardware-wise.

The 64-bit chipset and the available 2GB of RAM will most certainly make use of the Android 5.1 Lollipop mobile OS which the Moto G3 came with out of the box.

In addition to being attractive for the current Moto G owners looking forward to the upgrade, the features of the Moto G3 enables it to capture an even wider audience of potential customers.

The Moto G3 is also one of the first major products that Motorola launched with Lenovo at the helm. From the outset, it would appear that the Chinese tech giant has kept the same winning formula that Google introduced during its tenure as the owner of the storied American tech company.

Lenovo will further augment the retail distribution chain that the company has already set in place all over the world.

Having learned its lessons from the Moto G and the Moto G2, the 3rd Generation of the Moto G has turned it to good use by correcting all the flaws that the American tech company experienced with the first two models of the brand.

Motorola Moto G2

Compared to its chunky predecessor, the Moto G3 is quite refined. While its specifications are not much of a leap forward, but the build quality is quite excellent and the number of features have also been enhanced.

The Motorola Moto G3 also comes with in two storage and RAM options. It has a model that comes with a 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage and a variant that features a RAM of 2GB and a 16GB of internal storage. But as expected, the bigger version is more expensive.
