Though the improvements would not be as noticeable or as drastic compared to devices which have taken on the problematic Android 5.0 Lollipop, the firmware update would be a significant development as the Motorola Droid Turbo headed straight to Android 5.1 Lollipop from its Android 4.4 KitKat, which it carried since it was launched in October last year.
Users of the Motorola Droid Turbo felt alienated for being left out by the company in the cold as most of the Motorola smartphones that were launched later than the handset already got their Lollipop updates way ahead of them while they agonizingly wait.
Some Droid Turbo owners are actually feeling the pangs of envy and experiencing fits of jealousy too. They also felt bad because they were being branded as second-class citizens too.
The update will bring most of the key features of the Android 5.0 Lollipop and the Android 5.1 Lollipop including lock screen notifications, material design, the new recent apps page, two-finger quick settings menu from any page, battery saver mode using Project Volta, 64-bit ART compiler that opens apps faster, new security features, among a host of others.
As the Android 5.1 Lollipop was still not happening on the Motorola Droid Turbo other than those issued by Verizon Wireless, its users are now beginning to feel being left out in the cold not just once but twice.
my 5.1 was working jsut fine. Then I did the update and my phones battery percentage is way off. It will shut off and say no battery when it says it at 40%. I wiped cache(took forever) and still nothing. I think I will have to factory reset now. I hate Verizon/ moto has been very disappointing in what was supposed to be as close to stock android other than the nexus
That’s nice but I have a Moto MAXX that’s still under contract. Talk about being left out.
Update 23.11.39 trashes my turbo battery use. Only getting roughly 8 hours vs a day and a half out before battery dies. Great work Google and Verizion. Update the update and fix your junk.
Yea um… Like I factory reset my phone… Still have lolipoop tho…. Like wtf
Lost calendar info with my medical history, doctors appointments, everything important. Not even in my back up. I usually got anywhere from 35 to 45 battery life bcuz I don’t utube, Facebook, font know how to Twitter or Instagram. I now hate this phone and want to go back to KitKat. Had no problems, but they say sorry can’t get your important calendar info and 6 hours a day on a full charge will be fixed in a couple of weeks. Well it hasn’t and its been over a month. Technician helped and did a reset. Store worked with a technician to no avail. I want a new Droid Turbo with KitKat on it. You can have your lollipop. It sucks. My son denied it and a it changed on its own and messed his phone up. I have always been happy with Verizon and my droids to now. If they don’t fix soon or give me another phone or find my calendar info I am switching to another company.
I have the exact same problem after the update. The calendar entries are safely stored on the Google calendar accessed with my PC, but all entries older than 1 year before the date of the update are missing on the phone calendar app. I was planning on calling Verizon, but wanted to find out if anyone has already found a solution for this annoying problem.
Thanks.
