Motorola Droid Turbo Left in the Cold Again, The Smartphone Maker Rolls Out Android 5.0 Lollipop to Moto G and Moto X

The Motorola Droid Turbo may indeed be a second-class citizen in Motorola’s smartphone line. The company has left its previous flagship handset in the cold again by not rolling out the Android 5.0 Lollipop on the device as much as it already did for the Moto G and Moto X.

Reports have it that the Motorola Droid Turbo was left in the cold because it has yet to pass the soak test.

The soak test is a by-invitation-only event of Motorola so only selected users are allowed to participate. It is a test used by the company to check the software compatibility of its devices.

The company has been using the soak test to uncover bugs or any unstability issues that might come up with a particular smartphone once it is officially released to the market, notes Yibada.

Soak test passers

Motorola has already rolled out the Android 5.0 Lollipop soak test for its Moto X and Moto G models. Users of the Motorola Droid Turbo, on the other hand, have been complaining lately that no update has been released for their specific phone model.

There was a soak test before on the Motorola Droid Turbo, which many thought would be the Android 5.0 Lollipop but it turns out to be a different update.

Speculations are now rife that Motorola is just waiting for the roll out of the Android 5.1 Lollipop update before it updates the Motorola Droid Turbo.

Assuming that there is truth to these rumors, it is likely that Motorola Droid Turbo users will have to wait a little longer before they can update their phone’s software.

Another rumor swirling around lately disclosed that Google is now working on the latest update to the Lollipop, which shall be called Android 5.1.1. It shall be released within the second quarter of this year. Accordingly, the first device that shall get the Android operating system update will be the HTC Nexus 9.

A great smartphone

When it was released in October 2014, the Motorola Droid Turbo has all the right ingredients to becoming a great and exceptional handset.

It offers a giant, beautiful and high-resolution (565 pixels per inch) display screen and can be carried without the fear of being bending, as was the problem of the latest Apple iPhones and lately, Samsung too according to recent reports. It has a two-day battery life and a 21-megapixel camera that can record a 4K content.

The Motorola Droid Turbo has also taken on a premium look using ballistic nylon, reinforced with a layer of Kevlar, the same material used for bullet-proof helmets.

The buttons of the smartphone also feel premium and its style has been further accentuated with fine lines, giving it a texture all its own and a very nice touch too.

What made the exceptional smartphone somewhat stale is when Motorola failed to deliver on its promise to update the operating system of the Droid Turbo more than five months after it was officially released to the retail markets.
