Mojang have taken a narrative approach on “Minecraft” by allowing the game to have a story-based mode due for release later this year. Players will control the male character Jesse, a new one compared to the game’s default player Steve, in his quest for adventure and survival in the world of Minecraft.
The Verge reports that Jesse and his friends will be in a world of EnderCon on five-episodic missions with one ultimate goal – defeat the Ender Dragon. One of the missions of the group is to find the Order of the Stone and save themselves from peril.
Other characters will also be present in the story mode such as warrior-like Petra, Olivia, Lucas, and even a pig named Reuben. Telltale’s Job Stauffer explained that each character reflects a different gamer and that the inspiration for these characters went as far back as the 1980s.
The game has placed a lot of efforts in making its story-based mode possible. Kevin Burner, CEO of Telltale, said to IGN that as soon as the story-based mode of the game was announced last December, the team has worked closely to bring out nothing but the best. He added that they even tap Patton Oswalt of “Ratatouille” to voice Jesse along with a slew of actors including Martha Pimptom, Brian Posehn, Ashley Johnson, Scott Porter, and Billy West to lend their voices for the other characters of the video game.
