Michael Fassbender to Play Steve Jobs on Apple Co-Founder Biopic!

German-Irish actor Michael Fassbender who shot to Hollywood fame for playing the role of Erik Lehnsherr also known as Magneto in “X-Men: First Class” shown in 2011 and for playing the cyborg David in “Prometheus” in 2012, shall be playing the role of Steve Jobs in the new biopic about the Apple co-founder.

Filming for the movie began early this week in San Francisco as Fassbender relives the life of the visionary computer whiz that is Steve Jobs, reports Yahoo! News from an AFP report.

The 37-year-old actor got the title role to play Steve Jobs after it was offered and turned down by Hollywood actors Leonardo DiCaprio and Christian Bale.

The report said that Christian Bale pulled out of the project after he felt that he was not right to play the part. There was no report on why DiCaprio shunned away from the project.

Second Steve Jobs movie

The movie titled “Steve Jobs” is being written by Aaron Sorkin, who won an Academy Award for his screenplay for “The Social Network,” the film about Facebook and its co-founder Mark Zuckerberg.

It is to be the second movie about the remarkable Apple inventor and his very checkered and colorful life following “Jobs” shown in 2013 starring Ashton Kutcher. The first movie did not make a big splash when it was shown and only got half-hearted reviews from film experts.

Michael Fassbender will be joined by Seth Rogen, who shall play Steve Job’s sidekick at Apple Steve Wozniak, in the movie.

Rogen’s film credit includes the controversial movie “The Interview” about a US plot to enlist a pair of American journalists to assassinate former North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un.

The cast also include veteran actors Jeff Daniels and Kate Winslet.

Director Danny Boyle, whose directorial film credits include “Slumdog Millionaire” and “Trainspotting,” shall be helming the film due to hit the theaters sometime next year.

Giving justice to the role

Michael Fassbender said that he will be attempting to give justice to the role of being the mercurial computer pioneer as he knows that it is a formidable task.

But Fassbender has been on a roll since breaking into television in 2001 for the TV mini-series “Band of Brothers.”

His first movie is actually in “300” shown in 2007 where he played the role of Stelios. But it was not until he played the role of Magneto in “X-Men: First Class” that Hollywood began to take notice of his acting skills.
