Mercedes have been making some rearrangements in their line-up recently, and they announced that the M-Class will no longer be produced in the future, replaced by the new GLE instead. The company also gave some details on the pricing for the new model, and they talked about their plans for 2016. It looks like Mercedes are going to have a busy year ahead of them, so hopefully they’ll be able to handle all that pressure correctly.
According to the company, the new Mercedes GLE based model, the GLE350, will be offered for $52,025 as a base price. There will be other options available as well, such as the GLE300d, GLE400, and the GLE 63 AMG. Then there’s the GLE63 S AMG, which will be the top model in this line and will have an appropriate price tag as well – it will be offered for $108,025. Not a car for everyone’s pocket, but it should definitely be a pleasing purchase for those who can afford it and know that they need it.
The company has also announced that they will be offering the C300d and C350e in their C-class, as well as the C450 AMG Sport. Interested buyers will have to pay $38,950 for the C300, and the other models will scale up in pricing accordingly, similar to what we’ve seen from the company before.
The model based on the E Wagon will cost $59,900, and the E Coupe will be offered for $54,200 for the E400 model. Then we have the CLA250 releasing in the middle of October, but we don’t know the exact pricing of that model as of yet. There have been some rumors, and people are of course trying to predict the pricing on online forums very actively, but we won’t know for sure until Mercedes make the official announcement.
Among all of this, one problem with the GLE remains which people have been noting for quite a while, both fans as well as critics. The model lacks fog lights on its trim level, and this has been a pretty notable missing feature, leading to disappointment among many fans. It’s not just about functionality either, as most fans seem to agree that lacking fog lights actually takes away from the visual style of the vehicle and degrades its appearance.
Whether one agrees with that or not is entirely subjective, but it is a fact that the model lacks any fog lights, and buyers will have to be aware of that. Of course, there are aftermarket options as well, but it’s always different when the feature is built right into the model itself.
