Marvel Studios and Sony Entertainment have formally buried the persistent rumors about the “Amazing Spider-Man 3” by officially casting Tom Holland to take on the role of Peter Parker and the web-slinging superhero for the “Spider-Man” movie reboot which will hit theaters on July 28, 2017.
Although the “Spider-Man” movie reboot will be the third live-action iteration of the character, it shall only be now that the wall-climbing superhero will be able to play in the same sandbox as Iron Man, Captain America, among other Avengers. That is because the new Spider-Man is now part of the Marvel cinematic universe following the agreement between Marvel Studios and Sony Entertainment forged in February this year, details Screen Rant.
But to spice things up for the “Spider-Man” reboot movie, Tom Holland will actually make his debut as the web-slinging superhero in next year’s “Captain America: Civil War,” where he will be formally introduced to his fellow Avengers.
According to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, director Jon Watts shall make the “Spider-Man” movie reboot unique to make it different from the five live-action films that were already shown from 2002 until last year.
As the focus of the movie is about Peter Parker being in high school, Feige said that they will pick up a lot of pointers from the movies of famed director John Hughes who was known for a lot of beloved teen films back in the 80s.
In a recent interview, the Marvel Studios boss said that the high school setting and the supporting characters will make the movie quite interesting, saying that it’s time to relive a John Hughes movie once again. Although he said that nobody can make a John Hughes movie other than John Hughes himself, but Marvel Studios will definitely draw inspiration from the great director in coming up with the “Spider-Man” movie reboot.
The final nail on the coffin
There has been lingering rumors about the prospect of “Amazing Spider-Man 3” but according to recent reports, it was actually Andrew Garfield who drove the final nail on the coffin of the supposed “Amazing Spider-Man 3” movie when he snubbed Sony Pictures chief Kaz Hirai in an event in Rio de Janeiro in the summer of 2014.
Hirai would have introduced Garfield as the star of the upcoming ‘Amazing Spider-Man 3’ during the event but for some reason the temperamental and moody actor did not show up even though he flew into the country before the event. Garfield just claimed that he was feeling under the weather and could not make it to the event.
As a result, the speech of Hirai had to be changed and the rest, as everyone knows it, is history. Had Garfield showed up in the event, Hirai would have pushed for ‘Amazing Spider-Man 3’ before deciding to work out and forged an agreement with Marvel Studios.
But with what Garfield had done, Hirai was left no choice but to junk the ‘Amazing Spider-Man 3’ movie project and eventually signed a deal with Marvel Studios a few months later.
Losing the role, getting back the love
However, it appears that Andrew Garfield is getting something better in return these days because word has it that he and Emma Stone are back together in each other’s arms after a brief split sometime in March or April.
