Laura Kate Dale Reveals Nintendo Switch Details in Reddit AMA, Device Won’t Feature Upgradable Battery!

Video game journalist Laura Kate Dale has been a great source of information about the upcoming Nintendo Switch, and it didn’t really come as a surprise to anyone that her “Ask Me Anything” (AMA) post on Reddit gained a lot of attention. Gamers were treated to some interesting bits of information about the console, and so far it’s shaping up to be quite the strong release, minus a few issues.

One of the more interesting revelations in the thread was that several games are going to get an updated treatment for the new console, including the popular “Splatoon”, “Smash Bros” and “Mario Kart 8”. The last one will be particularly heavily affected by the conversion to the Switch, according to Dale, and it might even come with some brand new gameplay features that fully utilize the console’s potential.

She did go on to say that gamers shouldn’t expect miracles, and obviously, Nintendo isn’t going to go that deep in all of their games, but some particular titles are going to be given quite the nice treatment, from what it seems.

Fans of “Pokemon” will be particularly delighted to find out that they’re going to get at least twenty new creatures for the Switch’s versions of the famous games, but no specific details have been revealed about that yet. It’s also not clear if those creatures will eventually make their way into other “Pokemon” titles or if they’ll be exclusive to the Switch, and we can really see Nintendo going in both directions.

Some gamers have also been wondering about the potential of brand new games on the Switch, and while we still don’t have much information in that regard, Dale did confirm that the console is going to get not one, but several new “unexpected” additions to its library. What exactly those could be will remain a mystery, and it’s something fans have been trying quite hard to find out.

There were also some disappointing revelations in there, and it won’t be a perfectly flawless situation. For example, the console won’t feature any sort of upgradable battery, any it also sounds like the rest of the hardware will be pretty rigid as well. This must come as pretty bad news for those who were hoping to move into a more customizable era with the Nintendo Switch, as some previous rumors about the console implied, but the company could easily offset that disappointment with some amazing releases.

Last but not least, Dale also revealed that the console will be fully integrated with modern social media, giving gamers access to tools to directly take screenshots and even record their gameplay in brief sessions for easy sharing later on.

We still don’t know how the system will work exactly, and what kinds of additional accounts it’s going to require, but hopefully Nintendo are going to make it streamlined and easy to use in order to draw in a large number of users. This could easily be a difference that changes a lot in the way people talk about the console.

More information will be revealed in a couple of weeks, as Nintendo are gearing up for their special press conference where they’re going to go into more detail about what the Switch is going to offer. Gamers have been counting the days left until January 12th, and some are even joking that this is their own mini “second Christmas”.
