Warner Bros is worried of releasing the trailer of “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice” ahead of the showing of “Avengers: Age of Ultron” as the latter may steal the thunder from the former in terms of audience interest.
Apparently, Marvel Studios does not share the same idea as the film company released on April 13 the latest trailer of its next superhero offering “Ant-Man” slated to be shown to worldwide theaters on July 17, 2015.
Starring Paul Rudd, “Ant-Man,” as its latest trailer shows, is action-packed and filled with computer graphics imaging (CGI) for its special effects as well as breath-taking action sequences. The alter ego of the superhero Scott Lang also adds a bit of humor by dropping witty one-liners every now and then, promising fans of action with some laughs on the side for total film watching fun.
The release of the latest trailer of “Ant-Man” also dispelled any notion that it will eventually be overshadowed by fan interest on the upcoming “Avengers: Age of Ultron” due to hit the theaters on May 1 as those who were able to watch it also got excited on the film and can’t hardly wait for its July showing.
Superhuman strength
Ant-Man is actually a founding member of Marvel’s The Avengers but he will not be in the second installment of the movie featuring the band of Marvel superheroes.
Through a special suit designed for him by Dr. Hank Pym, played in the movie by Michael Douglas, Scott Lang, a known thief and a usual fixture in jails, gets to be transformed into “Ant-Man.” He has the ability to shrink in size but increase in strength, details Screen Rant.
The main reason why he is called “Ant-Man” is because through his suit, he is capable of controlling and organizing large armies of ants and work together to his wishes.
His main antagonist in the movie, just like in the Marvel comics, is Yellowjacket, whose alter ego Darren Cross is being played by Corey Stoll. Yellowjacket also has his own high-tech suit and is also small making his battle with Ant-Man somewhat on a level playing field.
The latest trailer of “Ant-Man” has light-hearted comedic moments to be dished out most of the time by Paul Rudd with fellow co-stars Evangeline Lily who shall play Hope Van Dyne, Dr. Pym, and Yellowjacket no less.
Ant-Man as a link
Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, explained that “Ant-Man” actually connects “Avengers: Age of Ultron” to “Captain America: Civil War,” in reference perhaps to their release dates but not in content.
While it’s difficult to place “Ant-Man” in the Marvel cinematic universe at the moment, Feige said that “Captain America: Civil War” is the start of Phase 3 and that “Ant-Man” is a different kind of culmination of Phase 2. He also assured that “Ant-Man” is very much within the Marvel cinematic universe.
Feige added that moviegoers will eventually get to know the connection of Dr. Hank Pym to the Marvel cinematic universe plus the fact that “Ant-Man” gets to pick up on the thread of “Avengers: Age of Ultron” thus ensuring the link.
