Even celebrities aren’t immune to the harsher medical conditions, as we have seen numerous times, even recently – and it is those cases exactly that are usually the most humbling and lead to the strongest introspection. Because, hearing someone in that position talk about how disease is affecting their life can really help put one’s own situation in perspective. And recently, Korn’s frontman, Jonathan Davis, has taken a little time to talk about the current struggle of his own son – his fight with diabetes.
In a video which he recorded for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, he described his personal experience with his son’s suffering, and how the disease has affected the lives of both of them. Davis has also started a new campaign related to the disease, through which he’s offering his band’s new song “So Unfair” to fans, plus he’s giving a randomly chosen contributor to take a friend and join Korn for a recording session in the band’s own studio!
The video is quite touching, and it will have a strong impact even on those who haven’t had to deal with the condition in their lives. In it, he describes how he first found out about the trouble his son is going through, and how that has affected his own life, as well as that of his family as a whole. Subsequently, his son had to go through various tests and procedures in order to figure out exactly what was wrong with him, and how it could be addressed.
It seems that Jonathan Davis is quite motivated in his fight against diabetes, a side of his personality that he hasn’t given much exposure previously. Many of his fans expressed that they’ve been deeply touched by the singer’s statements, to the extent that they have felt compelled to join his difficult battle.
And nowadays, there’s certainly a lot that any random individual can do to contribute to the fight against diabetes. It doesn’t even take a lot of money, and there are various charities running at the moment which can give anyone the opportunity to do their part. People who are interested in contributing should definitely take the time to do so, as diabetes is something that affects humanity as a whole, not just single individuals. The sooner the condition is dealt with, the faster humanity will move forward – and every little bit helps. And it’s great to see people with a strong following behind them, such as Jonathan Davis, taking a public stance in this fight, as it’s statements like his that tend to be the most successful in driving people to contribute to such campaigns in large numbers.
