‘Kingdom Hearts 3’ Delayed Release to be Cushioned by Kingdom Hearts 2.8: Final Chapter Prologue

From a previously announced 2016 release date, the highly-anticipated role-playing game “Kingdom Hearts 3” appears likely to be released in early 2017 based on latest reports even though game developer Square Enix has yet to make a statement or announcement to either confirm or deny those rumors.

The game was apparently delayed when Square Enix announced during the Tokyo Game Show 2015, held last month, that it will soon be releasing “Kingdom Hearts 2.8: Final Chapter Prologue,” notes the Christian Post.

“Kingdom Hearts 2.8: Final Chapter Prologue” actually includes a remastered HD edition of “Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance,” a movie depicting the happenings of the mobile game called “Kingdom Hearts X (Chi) Back Cover,” and the long-anticipated “Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep Volume 0.2A Fragmentary Passage.”

Accordingly, the “Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep Volume 0.2A Fragmentary Passage” will give players a sneak preview of what “Kingdom Hearts 3” will be all about since the plan was to incorporate it too in the third game of the franchise.

A January 2, 2017 release date

Based on a supposed e-mail from Amazon to a user, “Kingdom Hearts 3” will be hitting video gaming shelves on January 2, 2017 and the reason for it was a change in its earlier release schedule, notes the Realty Today.

While Square Enix has not made any announcement about the release date of “Kingdom Hearts 3” in the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One, many fans of the franchise were thinking that the game would be released ahead of “Final Fantasy XV,” another highly-anticipated role-playing game from the Square Enix roster.

Latest reports indicate that “Final Fantasy XV” might be released sometime in 2016 so the January 2, 2017 rumored release date for “Kingdom Hearts 3” will be a splash of cold water on gamers who were one with the belief that the game would come out earlier than “Final Fantasy XV.”

But if gamers would take the issue to its brighter side, the early 2017 release would mean good things for the game as Square Enix will still have enough time to polish and finetune the game to its near perfection.

The user shared the e-mail that he received from Amazon after he followed up his pre-order of “Kingdom Hearts 3.” Amazon first acknowledged the pre-order it received from the user on January 25, 2015, citing the reference number too.

Then it said that the release date for the video game listed below, referring to “Kingdom Hearts 3,” Xbox One version, has been changed by the publisher. It then put the estimated arrival date of the game on January 2, 2017.

The “Kingdom Hearts 3” listing on Amazon shows a placeholder release date of December 31, 2016, but both Amazon and Square Enix have yet to make an announcement or statement to either confirm or deny this supposed e-mail from Amazon.

Baymax makes it into the game

Square Enix unravelled the gameplay trailer of “Kingdom Hearts 3” during the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2015 held in June and subsequently announced that the video game will be released next year on the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4.

During the gameplay trailer, it was clear that the Disney-themed worlds that protagonist Sora will go into with pals Donald Duck and Goofy are that of Rapunzel’s “Tangled” and “Hercules.”

Gamers thought that Square Enix already settled for the two Disney-themed worlds for “Kingdom Hearts 3.” They were wrong as the game developer pulled a surprise and made the announcement during the D23 Expo held at Anaheim, California on August 14 to 16.

Through a concept art, Square Enix showed that the world of “Big Hero 6” will also be integrated into “Kingdom Hearts 3” as Sora is shown riding an armoured Baymax with his Keyblade extended out toward what looks like a dark Baymax.
