Interestingly, the lawsuit comes just as Depp’s bitter divorce from Amber Head was finalized one week earlier. It came almost a year after Heard accused the actor of domestic violence.
The settlement calls for Depp to pay Heard $US7 million which she has pledged to a pair of charities, just to debunk notions that she is asking for divorce settlement because she wants to take advantage of the wealth of Johnny Depp.
Heard will also keep their dogs, Pistol and Boo, and a horse named Arrow, and a confidentiality provision calls for them to refrain from discussing their relationship in interviews or on social media.
It can be recalled that the two Yorkshire dogs have caused controversy when Amber Heard brought them to Australia in 2015 while Johnny Depp was filming “Pirates of the Caribbean 5” without undergoing the usual quarantine procedures.
An Australian minister threatened the dogs with euthanasia if they are not deported right away so Johnny Depp charted another private jet to take the dogs and his then wife to Los Angeles. But the Australian minister still sued Amber Heard and she faced the charges in Australia last year and most likely paid undisclosed fines.
Depp was recently featured in J.K. Rowling’s “Harry Potter” prequel “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” and will star in the upcoming sequel despite protests from the series’ fans.
