Jennifer Lopez or J-Lo is one of the very few celebrities who can be called a triple threat. She can sing, she can dance, and she can act. That’s why she is a legitimate triple threat in Hollywood.
As an actress, J-Lo has taken in just about any role imaginable that befits her character and personality, from action, romantic comedy, drama, suspense, and other types of movie genres. But she has never been into a role before where she played a superhero.
In a recent interview with E! News, Jennifer Lopez said that having been around Hollywood for far too long, she feels that it’s time for her to play a superhero role.
Time to don a superhero costume
She feels that having to wear tights and don a cape would make her feel awesome and she was actually wondering why nobody has considered her just yet to play a superhero.
J-Lo even teased Greg Silverman, the president of Warner Bros, and the producer of DC superhero movies “Batman” and “Superman” in the interview by asking him for a role as a superhero.
The “American Idol” judge would be out of contention for the “Wonder Woman” role as that has already been given to Gal Gadot, who will be showcasing it first in the upcoming “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice” movie showing on March 25, 2016.
Possible superhero roles
The New York Daily News reported that one possibility for J-Lo to play a superhero role under Warner Bros is if the film outfit decides to make a movie of Zatanna, the sexy magician from DC Comics. But there is a dearth of female superhero in the Warner Bros – DC stable compared to Marvel which has a lot.
Marvel has had a lot of female superheroes, whose respective roles were taken on by big name Hollywood actresses including Hally Berry for X-Men’s Storm, Jessica Alba as Sue Storm / Invisible Woman of the Fantastic Four, and Scarlett Johannson as Black Widow of the Avengers. Black Widow will be debuting in the upcoming “Avengers: Age of Ultron” movie showing on May 1, 2015.
But the best option for J-Lo is the role of the cosmically-powered Captain Marvel, whom Marvel has already announced will be a female superhero.
Marvel Studios has included a “Captain Marvel” solo movie in 2018 in its nine superhero movie lineup from 2015 to 2019 that the company disclosed in November last year.
Regarded as earth’s mightiest hero, “Captain Marvel” has yet to have an official casting and J-Lo would surely be a good fit for the role, should the executives at Marvel Studios begin their casting call.
Maybe it’s time for J-Lo to sell herself to Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, the same way she did to Greg Silverman in her recent interview by E! News.
