Jackie Chan and Michelle Yeoh to Star in Love Story Film More 20 Years After the Idea was Broached, More Details

The first and last time that Chinese action superstar Jackie Chan and Malaysian Chinese actress Michelle Yeoh starred in a film together was back in 1992 for the movie “Police Story 3.”

After the movie, they have talked about reuniting for another movie in the future but it never materialized.

During the 2015 Asian International Film Festival and Awards (AIFFA) held recently in the island state of Borneo in Malaysia, Jackie Chan put forth on the table an idea to do a love story movie in Sarawak, having been captivated by the island’s picturesque appeal and romantic aura, notes Yahoo! Entertainment.

However, Jackie Chan said that he would only do a love story for a movie if Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh would be his romantic interest.

Very ready

When an AIFFA host during the award show’s opening immediately relayed Jackie Chan’s pronouncement about a love story film to the Malaysian actress, Michelle was quoted as saying that she and Jackie have been talking about a love story movie for more than 20 years already. She also added that anytime Jackie is ready to shoot, she will be ready too.

Many Chinese fans have been longing for a reunion movie between Jackie Chan and Michelle Yeoh because they look good on the screen together. While “Police Story 3” was more of action and a bit of comedy too, it was obvious that there is chemistry between the two stars.

Jackie and Michelle also admit to their working chemistry although there is nothing romantic going on between the two of them in real life.

Happiest moment at AIFFA

The two stars were able to meet in person during the AIFFA event and the excitement on Jackie Chan from the reunion actually spilled to his Facebook post after the event when he said that the happiest thing of all he had at the AIFFA was meeting his old friend Michelle Yeoh.

He further elaborated in his Facebook post that he truly cherished every moment and opportunity that he and Michelle were able to see each other again because they are both very busy and it is very seldom that they get a chance to meet.

Jackie Chan also disclosed that in his new book, he actually dedicated one section writing about Michelle Yeoh. The Chinese action superstar also included a photo in his Facebook post that saw him embracing Michelle in a back hug.

The actor was in AIFFA to receive the Asean Inspiration Award for 2015. Michelle Yeoh on the other hand, came to the event as a presenter, as she presented the Lifetime Achievement prize to veteran Filipino actress Nora Aunor.

Action Actors Michelle Yeoh and Jackie Chan

Jackie Chan’s last movie was “Dragon Blade” shown last year while Michelle Yeoh will be seen after a long, long while in the upcoming sequel of the 2000 epic hit “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.”
