After so much speculation, it looks like fans of “Iron Man” can at least rest assured that the next film really is in production, and “Iron Man 4” is coming at some point in the future. However, the situation with the role of the main character remains unresolved and it’s not known if Robert Downey Jr. will indeed be taking part in the film.
It’s entirely possible that there will be some major changes in the setup in order to accommodate for the actor’s rumored departure from the production, but it remains to be seen if that’s true or not in the first place. For what it’s worth, a recent report confirmed that the actor is going to take part, but that can of course change at some point in the future.
The film has been officially confirmed to be in development, according to recent reports, but its release date has been pushed very far back – it won’t be out for the next few years and there is a lot of work that apparently has to go into this production in order to make it work. We also don’t have the full picture with the casting, although it’s at least been confirmed that Robert Downey Jr. is coming back, as we stated above.
The situation with the actor was a bit difficult to read from the beginning, as the main reports about him were claiming that he was asking for a pay raise if he was to take part in the new production. There were conflicting reports about the exact amount of extra money he was asking for, but of course this was confidential information in the first place and not something that we would expect to hear about on the official front.
Ty Simpkins has also been reported to possibly have a major role in this film, a much more prominent one than previously, although we don’t know the exact details of that. There have been some rumors that we’re going to see a younger version of Iron Man in this film, and there could be some other interesting plot twists as well, so it would definitely be interesting to see how the producers will handle the new setup of the film.
One of the main points of speculation for fans remains the role of the villain in the new film. Who’s going to be the major bad guy, and how is he going to play into the overall plot? There are different possibilities for that, and we’ve already heard several theories by fans who seem to love speculating on such parts of the plot. Of course, this is a major detail that’s very important to the film as a whole and we wouldn’t be surprised if it was kept a secret until the last moment when the film was ready to come out. It’s something that the producers could very well choose to do if they wanted to ramp up the popularity of the film and benefit from some extra hype around it.
Another point that fans aren’t sure about and love to speculate on is the release date of the film. Clearly we’re not going to see it anytime soon, and there are reports claiming that it won’t be out until by the end of 2019, but we don’t know if that’s true or not. Marvel do have their release schedule booked quite tightly until around that time, so that could lend some credibility to those rumors.

F**K Ty Simpkins, he better not be in Iron Man 4! Harley better not become the new Iron Man! Don’t want some stupid kid to become Iron Man. Tony Stark is the ONLY Iron Man. We need to see the real Iron Man (Robert Downey jr.) face the REAL Mandarin in Iron Man 4. The real Mandarin should be the villain of Iron Man 4.
