HTC Desire 816, HTC Desire Eye Get Sweet Taste of Android 5.1 Lollipop

One of HTC Desire 816’s competitors is Samsung Galaxy A7, but most buyers prefer the Desire 816 as it is less expensive than the Galaxy A7. Nevertheless, LTE connectivity is available to both smartphones though not all phones are LTE-capable yet. It is expected that in the years to come, as LTE subscribers keep on increasing, smartphones will have LTE connectivity just like how almost all phones these days are now Wi-Fi ready.

HTC announced in January that it will release a newer Desire model, the HTC Desire 826, which can accommodate two SIMs. The dual SIM model was initially released in the Asia-Pacific region and is currently available in major retail outlets in America. Some of the specifications of the Desire 826 are still the same as Desire 816. Nevertheless, most upgrades are evident like the four ultra pixels front-facing camera, 16 GB internal storage that is expandable up to 128 GB, Adreno 405 GPU combined with 2 GB RAM, and an HTC BoomSound with Dolby Audio.

Meanwhile, HTC apps are also being developed as HTC Mail was released on May 21 at the Google Play Store. However, as of its release, it is not yet compatible with some HTC models like the HTC One M7. HTC not only wants to integrate Android 5.1 Lollipop to most of its phones, it also plans to incorporate its own apps like the HTC Mail to all its phone models, although the details have yet to be announced.

Amid bright future developments in their tablets and smartphones, HTC is currently experiencing slow phone sales as it is projecting a net loss of around US$260 million to US$300 million for the second quarter ending June 30. Despite all these struggles, HTC is continuously strengthening its customer service in the UK, the US, India, and other countries where it has a major presence.
