Michael Kelly, recently said in an interview that as much as the show is great, viewers could actually lose the characters that they so dearly love.
While the actor did not elaborate on his statement, it seems clear that there would be a possible death of a major character in the upcoming Season 5 of “House of Cards” when it premieres on Netflix early next year.
It could just be one character or it could be more but if that is to be the case, then it would surely be a game-changer for the hit TV series.
Kelly recalled that immediately after Season 3, he and former showrunner Beau Willimon talked about the future of “House of Cards.”
Willimon told Kelly that there are two ways that the show could proceed. Either the fans could see the tandem of Frank Underwood and Doug Stamper rampage their way to success or see them both fall into hard times after achieving success.
There have been previous reports saying that Frank Underwood would meet his demise in Season 5 because of his illness. There are also rumors saying that Doug Stamper will be the one who shall kill him under the instruction of Claire Underwood.
However, all these remain as speculations pending the confirmation from the new showrunners, the cast of characters, or Netflix perhaps.
