The ‘conscious uncoupling’ of Hollywood actress Gwyneth Paltrow and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin for over a year is about to become official as the actress filed on April 20 the divorce papers to officially end their marriage.
Reports have it that it was Chris Martin who insisted that he and Gwyneth formally divorce because the musician is apparently planning to propose soon to his 24-year-old girlfriend and Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence, notes the Inquisitr.
Sources close to “The Hunger Games” actress also disclosed that Jennifer is not happy that Chris and Gwyneth are not doing anything at all to formalize the dissolution of their marriage so much so that she gave her piece of mind to her boyfriend Chris.
That was what Chris needed to make his own pitch to convince Gwyneth to file the divorce papers which she did last Monday. There were reports that if Chris fails with his mission of convincing Gwyneth to file the divorce papers, there is a good chance that he might also lose Jennifer Lawrence as a girlfriend.
Separated for a long time
While Gwyneth and Chris claimed to have separated only last year, the divorce papers that Gwyneth filed in court on April 20 seems to indicate otherwise. The actress indicated in the petition that their date of separation was May 6, 2013.
This means that the former couple has been separated by almost a year before they even made the announcement last year that they have decided to consciously uncouple.
It can be recalled that it was in March 2014 when Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow announced that they are separating, through their unique and famous term as ‘consciously uncoupling.’
The actress, in a radio interview with Howard Stern, said that she regretted using the term during her announcement in March last year. She admitted that she made a mistake because she did not give the phrase the proper context.
Gwyneth also said that her intention in using the term was very noble. She said that it was a great thing she did because she did it for her kids, although she admitted that it was quite a goofy term. She also said that she was not aware that the term would also create a big stir just like what happened.
Chris and Gwyneth have two children – 10-year-old Apple and 9-year-old Moses. In her petition for divorce, the actress also sought joint custody of the two kids.
Getting serious
There are reports that the relationship of Chris Martin and Jennifer Lawrence is getting to the point of serious that is why the Coldplay frontman is already preparing himself to pop the question to his girlfriend.
There have also been reports early this year that Gwyneth has expressed her support and gave her thumb of approval to the relationship of her ex-husband and the “The Hunger Games” actress.
For her part, Gwyneth also appears to have moved on from her failed marriage too as she is now in a relationship with “Glee” producer Brad Falchuk.
