When asked recently to compare “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” with the first movie, Director James Gunn said that the first film is more of a space opera while the upcoming one is going to be a science-fiction film.
When it was released to theaters in 2014, “Guardians of the Galaxy” earned almost $775 million prompting Marvel Studios to map a sequel immediately.
However, the success of the first film also puts undue pressure on “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” to do well at the box office and fan and critics expectations are also sky high.
The first teaser for “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” was released last month and already featured the Guardians returning in full force including Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana’s Gamora and Dave Bautista’s Drax all appear in the sneak peek. They are also joined by Bradley Cooper’s Rocket Raccoon and Vin Diesel’s Baby Groot.
Based on the trailer, it seems that the Guardians shall have new costumes and the trailer actually show Star-Lord having that automatic self-wearing mask that resembles that of Ant-Man’s.
The 80-second trailer also teased of the likely break-up of Star-Lord and Gamora as Drax the Destroyer is seen consoling Star-Lord onboard their space craft and was quoted as even saying that Star-Lord just needs to find someone who is pathetic like him.
