Chris Pratt is one of the very busiest actors in Hollywood these days. During his promotion of his movie entitled “Passengers” with Jennifer Lawrence, he was asked what he thinks of the chances of “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” when it hits global theaters on May 5, 2017.
He said that while he loved the first movie when it was shown in 2014, he promises fans that it is going to be upstaged by its own sequel.
Pratt said that “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” is just heightened compared to its predecessor, adding that it is going to be bigger and better than the first movie in every way.
The actor said that it’s really saying a lot because he believes that the first movie was considered by many critics as that good, notes People.
“Guardians of the Galaxy 2” is going to be the 15th movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) but is just going to be the third under Phase 3, following “Captain America: Civil War” and “Doctor Strange” shown this year.
It’s all because of Gunn
Pratt also attributes the excitement that “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” brings to James Gunn, who both wrote and directed the first film and also the upcoming film.
The actor said that James Gunn is the man behind the “Guardians of the Galaxy,” citing that everything is the man’s vision.
He also said that Gunn has no equal in Hollywood and thinks the director is the best that he has ever worked with.
Chris also said that he owes so much to James Gunn for his stardom. He explained that the director knows the “Guardians of the Galaxy” characters so deeply that is why the first film came out very great. And so is the upcoming second film, Pratt assured.
He cried upon reading the script
In the same interview, the actor refused to provide any more details about the possible plotline for “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2”
He said that there is already enough interest for people to go out and see “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.” In fact, he also cited when the first official trailer came out and was uploaded on YouTube eventually, it got one million likes in one day, which is the biggest for any Marvel movie thus far.
Pratt said that if they want to know about the storyline for the movie, he said that he cried when he first read the script. He said that the movie is really fun but there is also some genuine, deep emotion that viewers would get to see in the film, details Comicbook.com.
Meanwhile, Director James Gunn has a brother named Sean who shall be playing Yondu’s first mate Kraglin in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.”
Kraglin, just like Yondu, is part of the Ravagers, who were out to get Peter Quill a.k.a. Star-Lord, played by Chris Pratt, for double crossing them with the Infinity Stone as shown in the first movie released in theaters in 2014.
Sean Gunn revealed in a recent interview that the first scenes of “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” happens just a couple of months after the first movie.
He disclosed that the Ravagers will wonder why Yondu, played by Michael Rooker, is not going hard against Peter Quill. He added that they would then question the allegiance of Yondu whether it is still with the Ravagers or with the Guardians already since he has gone soft on Peter Quill.
Gunn said that his character will be a key part of the decision of the Ravagers on what to do with Yondu.
