Everyone knows that every element of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is interconnected with one another so every Marvel movie nearly has a bearing on at least one or two films in the stable.
The precious Infinity Stones, all five of them, were first mentioned in “Thor: The Dark World” and the movie even introduced an important character through The Collector, who was also featured in “Guardians of the Galaxy.”
The next mention of the Infinity Stones came during the “Guardians of the Galaxy,” which Thanos would like to get his hands on to achieve immense power to rule the entire galaxy.
It is likely that the Infinity Stones shall once again be the focus of the upcoming “Thor 3” and “Guardians of the Galaxy 2” movies, both of which are still due to hit worldwide theaters in 2017.
Both movies would likely move the Infinity Stones storyline forward by continuing the loose connection they made with The Collector and Thanos, who also put on his Infinity Gauntlet in the “Avengers: Age of Ultron.”
In fact, it was in the “Avengers 2” movie that saw Thor having the vision of the impending Ragnarok apocalyptic event which is the reason why the third Thor movie is officially titled “Thor: Ragnarok.” Based on initial information Loki will also attempt on getting his hands on the Infinity Stones or at least some of them and he shall most likely forged an unholy alliance with Thanos for a shot at a share of greater power, notes Movie Pilot.
However, it is generally perceived that “Guardians of the Galaxy 2” will probably be the most perfect movie to really kick off the idea behind the Infinity War.
Infinity War, as every Marvel fan already knows by now, is the official title of the two-part third Avengers movie to be called “Avengers: Infinity War Part 1” and “Avengers: Infinity War Part 2.”
Keeping fans in the loop
James Gunn, writer and director for “Guardians of the Galaxy,” has been keeping fans on the loop regarding the development of the sequel to the “Guardians of the Galaxy.” His latest announcement specifically mentioned that filming for the movie will begin in February 2016.
“Guardians of the Galaxy” has made a worldwide box-office haul of $774.1 million when it was released to theaters in August of last year.
Considering that “Guardians of the Galaxy” only plays second fiddle to the Avengers and other Marvel superheroes in the Marvel comics version, the box-office performance of the movie was really superb that even Marvel Studios and Disney Pictures were surprised.
The first movie was filmed in a London studio. But “Guardians of the Galaxy 2” will be done at the Pinewood Atlanta Studio.
Completing the screenwriting
Reports have it that James Gunn is now working very hard to finish the screenwriting process towards the second half of the year. As of the first week of April, the writer and director has already churned in 70 pages of the initial script of the movie.
While Gunn has yet to disclose any details, reports have it that he has given a robust treatment to the sequel with surprising twists and turns.
He has also met with Marvel Studio executives to discuss how they want the movie to come out and Gunn subsequently went back to his writing the working script format.
