It would be a shame, as the game definitely has the potential to refresh the racing genre and introduce some interesting new features to it. Despite the somewhat poor performance of “Gran Turismo 6”, the franchise as a whole is extremely popular and well-liked for a good reason.
Players still have trust in the high production quality of “Gran Turismo”, and are expecting something really good from the seventh installment, especially since it’s being developed for new-generation platforms as well.
In fact, reports indicate that the franchise is the best performing intellectual property on Sony’s platform, having sold over 70 million copies across different devices. The third game was apparently the best one in terms of financial performance, and some fans still remember it fondly as one of the best installments in the franchise for its gameplay as well.
So there is still a lot of potential for “Gran Turismo 7” to be a huge hit. If the developers make full use of the new capabilities of the platforms they’re using, they should be able to come up with something truly spectacular, and before we know it, this could be one of the games that dominate the headlines in the industry.
