Game developer Polyphony Digital has previously said that it is planning to make “Gran Turismo 7,” the latest iteration to its car racing video game franchise, the best racing title there is when it comes out exclusively on the PlayStation 4 in 2017 if not earlier.
In addition to ensuring great visuals, sound, collision physics, artificial intelligence, availability of more premium cars, and superb overall gameplay, it looks like “Gran Turismo 7” will further move a notch higher as latest reports now say that the game would also be capable of supporting the PlayStation VR, notes the Christian Today.
Previously known as Project Morpheus, the PlayStation VR, is Sony’s bet against the Oculus Rift and both feature full virtual reality technology for video games as well as supported media including movies and TV programs.
No less that Sony Computer Entertainment president Shuhei Yoshida confirmed recently that “Gran Turismo 7” may support the PlayStation VR when the game finally comes out.
Sony does have several IPs that would fit well with the PlayStation VR technology so having “Gran Turismo 7” onboard as one of the titles therein would not be a problem at all. The company has already done many trial tests on various video games of different genres, one of which is racing games, explains Yoshida.
Ahead of “Gran Turismo 7’ on PlayStation VR
But “Gran Turismo 7” will not be the first racing game title on the PlayStation VR if ever as “Driveclub” was the first video game to officially confirm support to the technology.
Yoshida, however, said that there was room for improvement since the current performance of “Driveclub” on the PlayStation VR led to motion sickness among gamers. He added that the problem has to be resolved first before “Gran Turismo 7” is given support to PlayStation VR.
The other car racing game titles such as “Assetto Corsa,” “Project CARS,” and “Grid Autosport” will not have support to the PlayStation VR but they are nonetheless compatible to the Oculus Rift should they decide to go and adopt virtual reality technology into their respective games.
No word yet on “Forza Motorsport 6,” which is the Xbox One exclusive car racing title, as far as virtual reality technology is concerned but it is almost sure that Microsoft is now working on it.
Shares the same excitement with fans
It is not just the fans who are already excited to get their hands on “Gran Turismo 7” when it is officially released in the near future, series creator Kazunori Yamauchi feels the same way too.
Unlike the gamers, though, Yamauchi need not get hold of a copy of “Gran Turismo 7” when it is finally released exclusively on the PlayStation 4 as he has been very busy working on the development of the game for quite some time now.
In a recent interview, Yamauchi said that people will not wait so much on a game that is way too far from being released. He said that since the game is “Gran Turismo,” fans and gamers deserve that it come to them earlier.
Yamauchi’s latest statement about the release date of “Gran Turismo 7” was consistent with his pronouncement sometime in October 2014. He also hinted that it seems pretty clear that the game will come in the next year and a half so it is likely that “Gran Turismo 7” will be released later in 2016, with the latest being early 2017, notes Car Throttle.
It will also not help the cause of “Gran Turismo 7” coming out later than its direct competitor, the “Forza Motorsport 6” being released exclusively on the Xbox One, as it may prompt other gamers to jump to the other racing game title instead of waiting for the PS4 exclusive.
Perusing through the commentaries of avid gamers on the forum site of GT Planet, it is very clear that they want the upcoming car racing video game “Gran Turismo 7” to integrate the best features of previous “Gran Turismo” games with the reported new features to make the game really great.
Some gamers are even suggesting that Polyphony Digital consider other features of top car racing video games like “Forza Motorsport” and even the arcade-like game “PCars” on the PC for inclusion into the game.
