While fans of “Gran Turismo” have been eager to get any new information about the upcoming game at all, it seems that the franchise’s developers will have to step up their development game even more if they want their product to survive – Turn 10 have just announced the sequel to their own racing franchise, “Forza Motorsport 6”. Things just got a little more interesting for the developers of “GT 7” for sure, but how will this situation end up?
The new “Forza” features the Ford GT as its cover car, and its announcement celebrates the ten-year anniversary of the franchise. The Ford GT will actually be featured in the game as a drivable car, according to the press release, along with other favorites like the Shelby GT350 Mustang, F-150 Raptor and more. This is just what’s been announced so far, and it’s expected that there will be more revelations in the coming weeks/months, as Turn 10 and Microsoft would surely try to build up some hype for the game.
The competition between “Forza Motorsport” and “Gran Turismo” is interesting because it’s on a higher level than simply two racing franchises – the two games are exclusive to Microsoft’s Xbox and Sony’s PlayStation respectively, so their success will directly reflect on the performance of the consoles themselves. With that in mind, it would be interesting to not only see how well the developers have prepared their titles for the big launch, but also how much support they’re going to get from their respective publishers. Sony and Microsoft have a great opportunity on their hands to boost the popularities of their own consoles, and they are most likely going to use it fully.
In addition, both games come as sequels to franchises that left a bitter taste in their fans’ mouths with their last installments. “Forza Motorsport 5” and “Gran Turismo 6” both had some issues at launch and were not received as warmly as most were hoping. In both cases, fans were a bit disappointed with the amount of content offered by both games, stating that they were hoping for more.
So, the battle between the two franchises seems to be getting more heated than ever, as the new releases are going to be much more important than the last installments in both series. Both developers have a great chance to make up for their poor last releases and earn back the trust of their fans – but on the other hand, they also have the potential to fail spectacularly, and establish the notion that their franchises are failing even more solidly. Only time will tell if both franchises are still being developed by people who’re interested in pleasing their fans, or just looking for money.

My take on both FM and GT is this .
People have expectations of what the game play should be if neither XBOX or PS can deliver the games simply wont sell here is what I expect
1. Unlimited tuning , Meaning I can drastically change how the car handles with no limitations on far I can go .
2. The ability to sell any car won or bought .
3. Online auction in which I can sell my torqued up and tuned up master piece that has a cool design that players will sell every car in their rooster to own .
4. Body modes , FM and GT totally bombed on this one , there should be an full range of after market parts for every car , So people can tub out the wheel wells add fat body side rails , cool adjustable spoilers , for both front and back ( GT screwed up on this one)
5. Allow teams like in FM4 , as a racer I was pleased with FM’s online play
6. Allow users to set up their own public rooms . preset rooms are BS , and allow the room maker decide the rules , such as allowing the user not only to force manual transmission , but also allow them to force Automatic transmission , as well .
7. Less limetations allow the player to choose how to upgrade their car , how ever they chose as long as it stays in the defined class , as limiting what tires one can use , is just stupid ( GT Fked up on this one , some people prefer handling over power or power over handling , Let us decide such things .
I have Forza 5 and totally hate it , it was a total waste of money , things like pre-set online rooms , cant auction your cars or even sell them , If you bought a shit ass car your stuck with it , GT sucked in this to certain cars cant be sold , this just stupid , online play wasn’t bad for GT , but totally sucked on FM. I will be dammed if I spend hours on tuning tweaking and putting a design on a car and not be allowed to auction my work of art to another player . FM’s Store front was a bad idea as it gave players who couldn’t tune cheap downloadable tuning setups for only 50K , or a kick ass paint job for cheap ;
Both GT and FM need to bring back the auction house , and get rid of the restrictions , we should only be restricted by physics , if someone fucks up by adding to much torque and spins in circles that’s their own fault for being stupide , or adds parts that are not compatible to their and they bottom out or over steer its their own fault for not adding enough down force or lowers their car to much .
One other thing their shouldn’t be any limit on what I can sell my cars for on the online auction block , in FM the most you can sell tuning set-ups and paint jobs for is 50.000
Get rid of the store front in FM it just undermines real racers , why should some nood be able to only pay 50.000 for a good tuning set up just so they can keep up with me on the race track . A Noob dose not deserve such a privilege , if they want a car that wins races then they should have to pay for it , or a car with a cool design . It just ant right that some noob can have what those of us who can drive have . If they want kiddy game then they should play miro cart or NSF
