‘Gran Turismo 7’ Beta Release Next Year Could Mean that the Game Would be Ready by 2017!

Game publisher Sony Computer Entertainment announced during the Paris Games Week late in October that it will be launching the “GT Sports” video game exclusively on the PlayStation 4 early next year, which came out as a bit of disappointment to anxious fans of “Gran Turismo 7.”

Sony also made it clear that “GT Sports” is an entirely different game from “Gran Turismo 7” although it alluded that the upcoming game would be a good thirst-quencher for the anticipating fans of the seventh installment of the “Gran Turismo” video game franchise, notes Christian Today.

Jim Ryan, president and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, described “GT Sports” as packing some content, which was not possible with the games back in the old days, which were only limited to what was available on the disc.

For a while, fans of “Gran Turismo 7” were expecting that the game will finally be released next year based on the hints of series creator Kazunori Yamauchi who said previously that the upcoming game will feature more premium cars that shall represent modern-day racing.

Yamauchi mentioned that those premium cars will represent the 2015 and 2016 era. So if game developer Polyphony Digital will release the game in 2017, then the premium cars of 2015 and 2016 shall no longer represent modern-day racing. Anything beyond 2017 would make the so-called premium cars of modern-day racing already antiquated.

Launching of the beta version

However, there is a chance that “Gran Turismo 7” could be released earlier than 2017 as reports have it that Polyphony Digital has already announced the launching date for the beta of the game sometime in 2016.

The Christian Today, in another report, notes that game betas are typically launched close to the actual game’s release date, and even though such is not a rule carved in stone, it is still a fair indicator that the title is also not far from being a reality.

Releasing a beta usually means that the game itself is close enough to completion that even a stripped-down version can now be deemed ready for a showcase to the fans.

Assuming that the beta of “Gran Turismo 7” is launched early in 2016, there is actually a good chance that the full game will be officially unveiled before the end of next year.

Game may support VR

Polyphony Digital has previously said that it is planning to make “Gran Turismo 7” the best car racing title there is when it comes out exclusively on the PlayStation 4.

In addition to ensuring great visuals, sound, collision physics, artificial intelligence, availability of more premium cars, and superb overall gameplay, it looks like “Gran Turismo 7” will further move a notch higher as latest reports now say that the game would also be capable of supporting the PlayStation VR.

Previously known as Project Morpheus, the PlayStation VR, is Sony’s bet against the Oculus Rift and both feature full virtual reality technology for video games as well as supported media including movies and TV programs.

No less than Sony Computer Entertainment president Shuhei Yoshida indicated recently that “Gran Turismo 7” may support the PlayStation VR when the game finally comes out soon.

Sony does have several IPs that would fit well with the PlayStation VR technology so having “Gran Turismo 7” onboard as one of the titles therein would not be a problem at all. The company has already done many trial tests on various video games of different genres, one of which is racing games, explains Yoshida.

As a racing game, “Gran Turismo 7” has all the trimmings of becoming a serious racing simulator so much so that it is also perfect for a virtual reality idea.
