Gamers Want Square Enix to Ease Up on Using Some Disney Worlds and Characters on ‘Kingdom Hearts 3’

As a crossover action role-playing game, Disney characters and worlds have become an institutional parts of the “Kingdom Hearts” franchise. Game developer Square Enix has announced during the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2015 that the third iteration of the video game, “Kingdom Hearts 3” shall have the characters and world of “Tangled” crossing over to the game.

Square Enix showed it through the gameplay demo which it presented at the E3 2015 that featured new fighting mechanics, new Disney characters and world appearing, and a general transformation of the game’s art design.

Despite the general receptiveness of fans and gamers on the Disney worlds and characters on “Kingdom Hearts 3,” there are still a good number of fans of the role-playing game that would like to see some things changed before the game officially hits the gaming consoles and the PC sometime early next year, notes Moviepilot.

According to the site, some of the fans of the game would like to see Square Enix easing up or better yet, excluding some of the Disney worlds and characters in the game because either that they have already outlived their usefulness or purpose or they are just too cute for a role-playing game.

Among the three Disney characters and worlds that Square Enix ought to consider of not including in “Kingdom Hearts 3” are Alice in Wonderland, which has already received a great deal of fire from gamers in the past, Atlantica from the Little Mermaid world because it is unbearably frustrating particularly in controls, and Pinocchio, particularly the insides of Monstro, the whale

Should never be considered

Meanwhile, Gamezone has also come up with its own list comprised of four Disney worlds and characters that Square Enix ought not to consider in picking up characters for “Kingdom Hearts 3.”

Surprisingly, Frozen is on top of its list because the world does not have a real villain in it at all, which is a requirement for a playable world in “Kingdom Hearts 3.” The site also listed The Little Mermaid which has been previously included in the original “Kingdom Hearts” video game. However, the world and the stint fell apart for “Kingdom Hearts 2” where Atlantica returned as a giant quick-time event.

The third is the world of The Nightmare Before Christmas – Halloweentown and the lead character Jack Skellington because they have already worn out their welcome to the “Kingdom Hearts” franchise apart from the fact that Tim Burton’s animation are just too freaky for the video game.

And lastly is Winnie the Pooh because there is no villain in the 100 Acre Woods unless one would count Pooh’s silliness and Eor’s ridiculous manic depression. There is also no protagonist in the 100 Acre Woods.

Polishing everything

Game director Tetsuya Nomura confirmed that it is Rapunzel of Tangled which will be the official Disney character and world that shall cross over to “Kingdom Hearts 3.”

Nomura explained that they want to polish up everything and ensure that it meets their own standards before they bring it to Disney for approval. The process now is quite different from before because the animation studios are already involved. He added that Square Enix wanted to make sure that they can realize the vision for the hair of Rapunzel in “Tangled” given its uniqueness before seeking Disney’s thumbs up for it.
