Full Recovery of Michael Schumacher Unlikely, Says Medical Insiders!

Because progress is quite slow and uncertain, reports are now rife that the full recovery of Michael Schumacher is very unlikely.

The information was apparently leaked by medical insiders, who are most likely part of the team of 15 doctors and nurses now caring for the seven-time Formula One world champion on a round-the-clock basis.

The medical team is headed by Professor Jean Francois Payen, who also operated on Michael immediately after the accident. Although he is rarely at Lake Geneva to oversee the progress of the Formula One champion, Prof. Payen is constantly in communication with the medical team and Corinna, the wife of Schumacher.

Accordingly, the German racer is still mute, has limited awareness of his surroundings, and he is also unable to walk.

Schumacher’s sorry physical state, although his doctors and family members refuse to confirm, has become the subject and talks not only in the racing circles but also of many fans the world over particularly in various internet news sites.

Media blackout

Schumacher was seriously injured during a ski accident in the French Alps in December 2013. He was in comatose after the accident for nearly six months before waking up around June 2014. He has been recuperating at his home in Lake Geneva, Switzerland where his wife Corinna has been taking care of him.

The family of Michael Schumacher has also enforced a complete media blackout on the physical and medical condition of the German racer, so the only source of vital information from within are any from the team of doctors and nurses that is caring for him.

One medical insider according to the Inquisitr was even quoted as saying that progress of Michael Schumacher was painfully slow and that there is no miracle on the horizon.

Recent reports also indicate that the Schumacher family have already spent over $15 million on a special clinic that was built in their Lake Geneva mansion. There is a team that massages Schumacher for hours every day to stimulate muscle mass while he is examined on an hourly basis to detect improvements.

Managing expectations

The neurological consultant and surgeon of Schumacher, Peter Hamlyn, said that the chance of recovery could take several months or even years before Schumi show signs of improvement.

Hamlyn disclosed that the main focus now is managing the expectations of the Schumacher family and reminding them to be patient. In addition to Corinna who is always on the bedside of Michael, there is also their two children, 17-year-old Gina Maria and 15-year-old Mick.

The surgeon also pointed out that looking back into the records of severe head injury victims who eventually recovered well, the time involve usually comes in terms of number of years quite often. He explained that the first months are more focused on survival. The next months after that would be more about the quality of survival.
