The good news – and rumors – about “Final Fantasy XV” continue. It looks like fans have every right to be very excited about the upcoming title, as it’s going to be a worthy successor to the iconic franchise, and it could even redefine the gameplay in very positive ways. While initial reception was mixed due to some of the harsher changes introduced to the formula, fans eventually realized that everything the developers had done is most likely for the better.
The developers wanted to make sure that people are aware of the unfinished state of the combat system in the demo version that was released recently. While pretty much everyone was impressed with the way combat worked in the demo, according to people working on the game, that was only about half of what the final game will offer in terms of combat.
There are apparently various features missing from the demo, such as magic and co-op chains and other details that can greatly influence how players fight. Of course, the demo was supposed to show the main aspects of the game’s combat, and it’s understandable that it would skip some of the finer details, but it’s certainly exciting for most fans to think about the possibilities that could be coming up.
In other related news, players will now be able to have female characters joining their party as guests. However, players should expect those characters to act oddly in a party of all men, and there might even be some gameplay implications behind that, though we’re not quite sure at the moment.
Other developments that were hinted as coming up were improvements to the overall performance of the game, as the demo was reportedly quite unfinished in that regard and should not be taken as indicative of the final product. However, the demo didn’t actually play poorly in any way, but if the developers manage to find a way to make it even smoother, nobody would be complaining. That is, as long as it’s not done at the expense of gameplay quality.
Square Enix don’t want to commit to a specific release date yet, and it might be a while before they’re ready if the rumors are true. Reports indicate that the game is about halfway finished right now, and there’s still a lot of work left on it, so we will probably not see its release date being announced anytime soon. Plus, Square Enix are not a studio to hype up their releases before they’re fully prepared with them, so when we do hear about the game, it will be close to completion. Hopefully, it won’t be that long before this happens.
