‘Fast & Furious 8’ May See Deckard Shaw Switching Sides; Another Big Bad Coming Out? Let’s See

Now that the casting of “Fast & Furious 8” is pretty much set, most of the reports about the movie on the internet are its possible plotlines.

Lately, the most interesting tidbits found on the internet about “Fast & Furious 8” is about British action star Jason Statham.

Reports have it that Jason Statham, who played Deckard Shaw in “Fast & Furious 7,” will turn into a good guy for the next installment of the action movie. This is actually a contradiction to previous reports that British dame Helen Mirren will be part of “Fast & Furious 8” and she will break Deckard Shaw from prison and the two of them will form the big bad ensemble in the movie.

So seeing Deckard Shaw turning from a bad guy into a good guy looks remote at this point but since the producers have yet to make a statement about “Fast & Furious 8,” it is nonetheless a possibility.

Bad guy or not?

In fact, current speculations are also saying that Deckard Shaw will be a good guy because someone else will take over the role of the big bad in “Fast & Furious 8,” notes Enstarz.

There is no word yet as far as who that big bad is but when the producers do confirm in the future the presence of a new big bad, then Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw is off the hook playing the bad guy again.

It can be recalled that the franchise likes to turn bad guys into good guys. The first actor whom they did it to was Vin Diesel’s Dominic Torreto character. That was the same way they did to Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s Luke Hobbs character.

Although Hobbs is not a criminal, and is, in fact, a law enforcer, he eventually sided with Dominic Toretto’s group after realizing that they are working together for a good cause and not just for themselves.

Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw could be the third one to be transformed by the franchise. However, everything is speculation at this point until a confirmation is made by the producers or any of the cast members.

Happy to do another one

In a recent interview, Statham said that he is proud to be part of the “Fast & Furious” franchise because the series has a unique fan base. He said that movies relate to the characters and fans love them too and they never get tired following them for years and years.

He confirmed his participation in “Fast & Furious 8” saying that he is just a newcomer that got invited to the party. He said that he is happy to know that he will be doing another movie for the franchise.

Meanwhile, Vin Diesel has posted on February 3 on his Instagram account the release dates not only of “Fast & Furious 8” but also of the next two movies of the franchise.

“Fast & Furious 9” would be released to worldwide theaters on April 19, 2019, while “Fast & Furious 10” would come out to global cinemas on April 2, 2021.

Since the first “Fast & Furious” film came out in 2001, it would make up for 10 films in one saga over a period of 20 years, reports the Christian Today.

The “Fast & Furious” movie franchise will serve as the first non-horror movie franchise that has several stories in one saga. The only horror movie that made it past 10 films is the “Friday the 13th” franchise.

Incidentally, Universal Studios has recently come out to debunk speculations that Paul Walker’s brothers Cody and Caleb would be part of the eighth installment of the “Fast & Furious” movie franchise and would play as possible stand-ins to their late brother.
