Fallout 4: Nuka-World Gets Mixed Reviews from Critics, Fans Mostly Pleased!

There was a lot of anticipation around the last DLC for “Fallout 4”, titled “Nuka-World”. Now that it’s out and gamers have had a chance to play around with it, we’re already seeing some responses from both critics and fans alike. It seems like fans were mostly pleased with what they got, while critics were slightly less fond of the overall quality of the content, particularly in light of its price.

The new DLC revolves around a theme park taken over by raiders, and it aims to address one of the most common complaints about the game – namely, the fact that raiders were reduced to mere bullet sponges that populated the entire world without any possible interactions with them.

In “Nuka-World”, the player will get to see three different raider factions who used to fight for territory in the theme park. The player character eventually becomes their leader, making him/her the “king” of the raiders, and is subsequently sent on various quests by the leaders of the three gangs.

A major part of the levels of “Nuka-World” reportedly feel like a typical corridor shooter, according to most reviewers, and lack any serious roleplaying elements. Other than the parts where the player interacts with the raider leaders and goes on quests for them, there isn’t much else to do in terms of building character relationships.

There’s a new companion, but reviewers also claimed that he felt mostly generic and not really unique compared to what we’ve already seen in the game. At the same time, the levels the player goes through, while generally open, all follow the same formula of killing everything in the room and proceeding forward.

Some of the more positive comments about the DLC were about the variety of content introduced in it. There are apparently lots of new weapons and items for the player to use, and various new enemies to try them out on. The general impression is that Bethesda have put a lot of work into coming up with all sorts of different new additions to the game, and it’s worked out quite well. They even honored one of their fans who had passed away, in a move that touched many.

However, this might not matter much to someone who wasn’t particularly interested in the shooter aspect of “Fallout 4” to begin with. As we pointed out above, the new DLC seems mostly focused on that part of the game, leaving conversations and exploration to the background. However, those who liked the improvements to the shooting system in the game should definitely find themselves enjoying “Nuka-World” as well.

Players seem to be having fun with the new content on the other hand, and it’s harder to find criticism among them. Of course, many would have preferred a lower price tag on the new DLC, but it’s obvious that a lot of work has gone into it, so the developers deserve what they’re asking for. Plus, those concerned with the price can just wait for the next Steam sale to roll around, when they should have a chance to get the content much more cheaply.

Now that all content for “Fallout 4” is out, the studio will probably take a break from the game. We suspect that they might start working on another important title that’s been talked about for a long time – “The Elder Scrolls 6” – but we don’t have any specific news about it yet, other than Bethesda’s claims that they won’t reveal the game too early.
