EPA Posts Official Figures for 2015 Jeep Renegade Fuel Efficiency, Listed at 31 MPG on the Highway!

This Monday, the EPA released some specifications about the 2015 Jeep Renegade, mostly related to the model’s fuel economy. According to the official numbers, the new Jeep offers a gas mileage of 25 mpg in combined environments, split between 22 in cities and 31 on the highway. These numbers are quite good for the market segment that the Renegade is trying to fit into, and they should give the truck a boost in its popularity among enthusiastic drivers – not that it needed one, but still.

The main competitors for the 2015 Renegade include the 2015 Chevrolet Trax and the Nissan Juke, while Honda are also coming up with their 2016 HR-V, and on Mazda’s front we’ve got the 2016 CX-3. All of those could offer the 2015 Jeep Renegade a good run for its money, but of course Jeep is also a brand name that enjoys great recognition and a fantastic fan following, so the company should still find it easy to make the Renegade a successful release.

In Jeep’s own rankings, the new Renegade falls right beneath the Cherokee. Reviewers have pointed out that some of the Renegade’s competitors actually have more attractive gas mileage numbers than Jeep’s offer, in particular the 2015 Trax, which runs at 26 mpg in cities and 34 mpg on the highway, still according to the EPA. Its 1.4 liter engine still delivers a good enough power output to make it a versatile machine loved by drivers all over, so it’s not a matter of power.

The Honda HR-V also offers similar mileage figures, despite having an even bigger engine with a 1.8 liter capacity, and it gives 25 mpg in cities and 34 on the highway. It’s not known how well the Mazda CX-3 ranks among these models, but one thing is clear – even though the new Jeep Renegade doesn’t look half bad in terms of gas mileage numbers, the company still has some serious competition from all sides, and they should make sure that their offer is good enough in all aspects if they want to remain relevant in their market segment.

Interested buyers will be able to see the new Renegade in person starting this week, as Jeep dealerships have already started receiving the model, and it should soon be available in a large number of locations. Those who want to see how well it feels to sit behind the wheel of the new Jeep Renegade will have the full opportunity to do so – and it looks like the truck just might be able to attract some buyers, despite having fierce competition from other manufacturers.
