“Beauty and the Beast” is getting turned into a live-action movie, an announcement that was received quite well by all fans of the original Disney production, and it seems like we’re going to get quite the good selection of actors in the leading roles. Recent reports have confirmed that Emma Thompson will be playing in the new production, after it was previously announced that Emma Watson will be starring in the film.
Other prominent names that have been confirmed so far include Luke Evans as the hunter Gaston who’s competing for the heart of the princess, and we also have Josh Gad and Kevin Kline as LeFou and Maurice respectively, the latter being Belle’s father. The cast is shaping up quite nicely and it’s clear that we’re going to see some classy acting once the film hits the screen, and it could very easily be a production that stands on its own just based on its actors alone.
We also have a confirmation that Alan Menken will be producing the soundtrack for the film, using materials from the original one as well as completely new tracks that have been made specifically for the new production.
The writing will be handled by Stephen Chbosky, who previously contributed work on “The Perks of Being a Wallflower”. The producers of the film will obviously spare no resources to ensure that it’s going to be a quality production, and we expect nothing less from a film with that iconic name. Emma Watson has been pretty excited for her role in it too, and we’ll probably get to see some very high quality synergy between her acting and that of her colleagues.
She went on to say that the original “Beauty and the Beast” has a special place in her heart, as it’s one of the films she grew up with and it shaped her to a large extent, so she obviously sees it in a more special way than the average person. She stated that she felt like a little kid again, and she was definitely very excited to see what she can do on the set once she starts her work on the live-action film.
Filming is scheduled to begin in May, so she has a couple of months to prepare, and we’ll probably start seeing the occasional leaked picture making its way from the set once the production is underway. With so many prominent names involved, it’s extremely unlikely that nobody would want to capture a few hidden shots to share with the world, so hopefully we’ll have something to discuss soon enough, before the actual movie has been released.
