Downton Abbey has taken the world by storm and might have something to do with the fact that it was made available on Netflix a little while ago. Since the widely popular television show was first aired in the United Kingdom, there were bad odds that anyone in the United States was going to catch a glimpse of the new show created by Julian Fellowes. The British period drama was brought to the PBS channel for those in the United States in 2011.
Now that everyone is caught up on the first five seasons of the show, the fans can look forward to Downton Abbey season 6 as it was announced back in March of this year. Even though another season is coming up, it will be the last season of the show, according to the announcement. The show takes place on a fictional Yorkshire country estate, called Downton Abbey and it follows around a few main members of the Crawly family.
Along with the family members, the show also follows around the daily lives of the servants and how they cope with events that brought havoc to the area during that time. Events like the sinking of the Titanic, World War I, Spanish Flu and the Marconi Scandal. The show has been winning awards throughout the time it has been on television and was even noticed by the Guinness World Records in 2011 as the most critically acclaimed English-language series of the year.
With Downton Abbey season 6 coming up soon, it was time for fans of the show to get online to see what, if anything, they could find about the show. There have been many ups and downs throughout the first five seasons and with the show coming to an end after this seasons, the expectations are running high. The sixth season will be set in 1925, which will be around six months after the end of season five. According to sources, the sixth season will bring more drama “infused with the prospect of happy endings for its lead characters”.
There has been a couple of trailers released already and in one of them, Lord Grantham is saying farewell to his loyal butler, Mr. Carson. In the trailer, he says, “If I could stop history in its tracks, maybe I would. But I can’t, Carson, for neither you nor I can hold back time.” As you might have imagined, that has the buzz flowing around the internet quickly as fans try to find out the happenings that are surrounding the trailer. Lady Mary is also going to play a major role as she tries to decide what she is going to do in regards to her love life.
