The launch of “Conan Exiles” has been a mostly successful one so far, with the game selling more than 300,000 copies in just its first week alone. The game was initially received very well by fans and critics, despite some minor flaws in its gameplay and presentation. In addition, the title faced some issues at launch as a result of problematic behavior of the regional lock servers, but it looks like that has been mostly resolved at this point.
However, once the initial hype died down, some problems started to surface, and the current state of the game over at Steam is not entirely positive. While its rating is still above the average 5.0, many gamers have been expressing disappointment with the way certain elements of the gameplay have been handled, mostly things which only become apparent once one has invested enough time into the game.
Some of the current complaints seem to be aimed at the game’s “early access” state, with players stating that many of the features are not implemented yet (or are there in some low-grade version), and the overall experience is not very fun due to the constant resets.
However, for a game of its type, and considering that it’s still under heavy development, it makes perfect sense to see the developers regularly wiping players’ save data as they adjust the balance and make necessary changes.
Anyone who’s gone through the beta phase of a game like this should be well familiar with the concept, and “Conan Exiles” actually seems to be handling the situation relatively well, all things considered.
There are also reports of various minor balance issues as well as bugs that keep cropping up here and there, but this is also something that one should expect from a game like “Conan” in its current state.
On the other hand, we’ve also seen plenty of positive comments praising the developers for their hard work and pointing out various strong points of the game. And so far, there seem to be enough of those to justify all the love. The core concept is solid and has been executed with a lot of attention to detail, and the developers are also paying attention to their community to a great deal.
That is actually a major contributing factor to why they are enjoying so much popularity right now. Looking at what players have to say about “Conan Exiles”, it seems like many of the game’s fans are particularly delighted by the treatment they’ve been getting from the developers, and the whole experience has brought many gamers together.
Another minor complaint some have been bringing up is about the price of the game, but this is a point that can be argued quite a lot. While it’s true that “Conan Exiles” is no cheap title and it will require a bit of an investment, at least those getting the game can rest assured that their money is going towards something that is going to be pushed forward a lot by its creators.
In the end, the true judgment of the game is yet to come, and we’re going to have to wait a bit until players have had some time to play around with it to see what it truly has to offer. At the same time, the developers also have a lot of work ahead of them, and they will likely need some time to properly sort everything out as well.
