Despite the growing popularity of Supercell’s “Clash Royale” overtaking the other major titles by the studio, the developers have still been putting a lot of effort into producing new content for “Clash of Clans” and “Boom Beach”. The former has been benefitting from the popularity of “Clash Royale” to some extent too, as the two games share their premise and occasionally, new additions to their gameplay.
In an upcoming update for “Clash of Clans”, Supercell are reportedly going to add sea attacks, mermaids and more sea-related content. It will be quite interesting to see the game’s battles taking place on water as well as air and land, and it could add a lot to the gameplay depth if it’s pulled off properly.
On the other hand, Supercell are reportedly trying to curb cheating even more, as they’ve announced that they will be harsher on those who’ve been caught, with more severe penalties.
It’s not clear if this could be related to a recent surge in cheating in the game, or if the studio is planning to release new content for it which would be more sensitive to cheating, but in any case, it’s definitely not bad news for the majority of players.
The developers are also going to change the rules for Clan Wars according to reports, as they want to make them a bit more restricted and focused. This may or may not be a positive change in the eyes of players, depending on how it will affect the balance between effort and loot, but hopefully it won’t be seen as a bad change by many.
Players have also been looking at “Clash Royale” as a possible source of ideas for what might come to “Clash of Clans”. The former game has been getting new units at a faster pace, as it’s apparently easier to implement them in it, and some of them have made their way to “Clash of Clans” as well.
It will be interesting to see some new additions of this type, especially now that “Clash Royale” itself is in the process of getting several new cards. The Tornado is still fresh out of the oven, and more are coming after it over the next few weeks, so it will be interesting to see how this could affect “Clash of Clans”.
The release of “Clash Royale” has definitely affected its “sister game” in a very positive way. One of the best-received additions to “Clash of Clans” was the introduction of special offers that appear in a limited fashion, something which was originally introduced to “Clash Royale” to very positive reception from fans.
Some are apparently a bit worried about the future of “Clash of Clans”, as the game might eventually hit a ceiling where it becomes unrealistic to keep adding more content. But considering how long it’s already been out for, and how much joy it’s given to players, that doesn’t have to be a bad thing. Every game has an end to its life cycle, and this should be no exception.
Plus, Supercell have also found a way to extend its legacy through “Clash Royale”, so all those fan-favorite characters aren’t really going anywhere. For now though, it’s obvious that the studio is still actively focused on “Clash of Clans” and don’t plan on letting the game go anytime soon. And this of course includes the addition of lots of new content over the next months.
