In San Antonio, SeaWorld takes care of over 100 penguins of various types and sizes. Two penguins recently drew attention because of their instinct to be “foster parents” for an egg of an entirely different penguin species.

Gentoo Penguins’ Mating and Nesting Habits

Gentoo penguins can be found in many sub-Antarctic islands and the Antarctic Peninsula. Compared to the emperor or king penguins, gentoo penguins are a smaller breed. On average, they weigh between 9.9 and 18.7 pounds.

Traditionally, gentoo penguins create nests along shallow coastal areas, often in tufts of grass. Stones surround each nest. The female gentoo penguin will lay eggs sometime between June and December, depending on the weather. Like many other types of penguins, the gentoo penguin is monogamous.

After the female gentoo penguin lays an egg, the male and female pair will take turns incubating the egg. The entire period will generally last about 35 days. Then, the chick will stay in the nest for about another month before joining other chicks to form small packs of young penguins, called creches.

Penguin “Foster Parents” at SeaWorld San Antonio

Today, there are roughly 300,000 breeding pairs of gentoo penguins in the wild. They are the third-largest penguin species. Surprisingly, the gentoo penguin is the only penguin species in the Antarctic Peninsula region whose population is increasing. Nonetheless, they remained classified as “near-threatened.”

SeaWorld San Antonio has two male gentoo penguins that have demonstrated a close bond. The gentoo species is known to have same-sex pairs that bond for life. In 2017, the two males were seen creating a nest together and taking turns guarding their nest and incubating, as though they had an egg in the nest.

While it is not uncommon for penguins to “foster” eggs, it is far less common that the “foster parents” are a same-sex pair. The pair was given a faux egg in 2017 to see how they would respond to it. They cared for the replica egg, just as two expecting penguins would in the wild. The trials continued until. 2020 when SeaWorld’s staff felt that the pair was ready..

In the early hatching season, the pair was given a “foster egg” that came from a chinstrap penguin pair. The pairs’ nest was close to an area where emperor penguins frequented, and the SeaWorld team was concerned that the egg would be trampled or left out in the cold if it was not relocated.

The gentoo penguin pair was able to hatch a chinstrap penguin egg on Dec. 30, 2020. Jason Medina, a SeaWorldSan Antonio aviculturist, noted: “Most new pairs tend to lose their eggs, and it takes a few seasons before they successfully incubate an egg.”

The two penguins also took turns feeding the chick once it had successfully hatched. Penguins feed their chicks regurgitated food. Adults will recognize their chicks by their distinct call, and penguins will not feed any chick other than their own.

In studies conducted in the wild, adoptions like these are very rare. A full, successful adoption among king penguins has only occurred in about 2% of cases. As a result, the fact that this adoption has been successful, and involves two penguins of the same sex, is remarkable.

SeaWorld and its Involvement in Penguin Conservation

There are 18 species of penguins that are currently legally protected from hunting and egg collecting. Many restrictions were put in place as part of the Antarctic Treaty, which was signed by 12 countries in 1959. It was reauthorized in 1991.

As a result of this treaty, it is illegal to harm or interfere with a penguin or its eggs in Antarctica. The Scientific Committee for Antarctic Research must approve any research or specimen collection. Similar treaties and laws affect other species of penguins as well, including the Endangered Species Act of 1973 and the Convention of International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora.

The penguins at SeaWorld have grown up in its care, or were rescued after being harmed or injured in some way. SeaWorld’s goal is always to return rehabilitated animals to the wild.

The Convention Assessment and Management Plan (CAMP) is a tool that is used to develop conservation priorities for various animals. In 2004, as a result of the Fifth International Penguin Conference, sponsored by SeaWorld and the New England Aquarium, the 1998 CAMP was updated to include all species of penguins. It also extensively reviewed conservation efforts and priorities to assist penguin populations around the world.

Penguin reproduction at SeaWorld is an integral part of efforts to increase penguin populations as a whole. The hope is that study of the penguins and support for reproduction will ultimately lead to better, more effective efforts to increase populations in the wild.

SeaWorld’s Efforts to Educate and Create Awareness

Observing animals in zoos and aquariums brings attention to these fascinating animals and helps create awareness about the need to preserve habitats for penguins. Currently, SeaWorld is home to the following breeds of penguins:

• Gentoo
• Chinstrap
• Rockhopper
• Adelie
• Emperor
• King
• Macaroni
• Megallanic
• Humboldt

SeaWorld San Diego has been designated as a “Participating Institution” in efforts to preserve the Humboldt penguin population, a vulnerable species of penguin. Each species of penguin has been able to successfully reproduce in at least one SeaWorld location as part of the park’s comprehensive breeding program. SeaWorld has also provided grants to various research efforts to learn more about penguins in their natural habitat, including those observing and tracking migration and behavior patterns in the wild.

For those who are unaware, Josh was in the reality TV series 19 Kids and Counting. He was bashed and people were outraged because he used to molest 5 young girls when he was in his teens which include two of his sisters. He was in therapy for treatment of sex addiction for six months.

Furthermore he also logged in to Ashley Madison, the famous affair-facilitating website, to try and cheat on his wife. The couple have been dating for more than two years now and admitted they want to have kids. If the controversies were true, this would be the fourth child for Gwen and this is the first for Blake. Blake who is only 41 years old had been divorced twice already and never had any children from his marriages.

The rumors have been in circulation for a while and a friend allegedly confirmed that a baby is coming.

Both Gwen and Blake are socially active but there are still no signs on their Twitter or Instagram profiles to confirm it or any official announcement hasn’t been released yet.

It is obvious on their social media platforms that Blake already bonded with Gwen’s three adorable boys from former husband, Gavin Rossdale. Their close friends claim that Blake has developed a close relationship with the boys namely, Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo.

Radar Online has reported that an insider has revealed that the couple has been planning pregnancy for months. Gwen has reportedly been paying visits to a clinic in Torrance, California regarding In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) She sought out a well-known doctor with a high success rate and is currently in a fertility-specific acupuncture treatment. This was the same treatment she had before when she was trying to be pregnant with her youngest son.

With Gwen’s age, it is unsure if she still can conceive a baby and if she does she would be considered a high-risk patient. Even though Gwen feels like her family is complete, with all her love for Blake, she is ready to go through the process again just to give him a child of his own.

However, Gwen will not relieve her post because she will supposedly focus on getting pregnant. She also doesn’t have any more scheduled concerts or gigs for the rest of the year. Blake, who returns to the show, has also cleared most of his schedule. So it may be true perhaps?

If these were real, they are probably taking some time off to prepare for their new bundle of joy. Maybe fans could expect an announcement soon.

Closer magazine editor, Laurence Pieau and publisher, Ernesto Mauri were penalized by a court in Paris for publishing and circulating the photos of the Duchess on vacation five years ago in the Provence region of France.

The images were taken using a long lens camera that illustrated Kate tanning at a beach house without a bathing suit top on. There was also a photo taken while she was putting sunscreen on her husband, Prince William. Lawyers for Kate and William sought heavy damages and a prosecutor at a Paris suburb court asked for high fines.

The couple filed an official complaint after the photos were published on Closer and a regional newspaper the year after their wedding. The couple did not attend the verdict hearing and was not expected to.

They originally filed a total of at least $1.3 million worth of damages. But the couple only got a fraction of their requested total in damages based on the maximum possible fines under French privacy law.

The paparazzi that were never officially identified caught the royal couple in their private vacation and tried to sell the pictures to different British media. As expected of the British people who adore their royal couple, they were turned down.

Then they brought the images to the French magazine. The magazine then published it with teasers that promised to reveal, “the future Queen of England such as you have never seen her…and such that you will never see her again!”

Closer finally published the controversial photos in their front cover with a headline, Seulement dans Closer: Kate et William leurs vacances tres hot en Provence (Only in Closer: Kate and William, their very hot holidays in Provence)

Obviously the palace was furious by the royal litigation and issued a statement saying the magazine and photographer had “invaded their privacy is such grotesque and totally unjustifiable manner”.

Prince William compared the controversy to the situation of that to the death of his mother, Princess Diana. The beloved Princess died in a car crash 20 years ago while being chased by paparazzi in Paris.

Paul-Albert Iweins, Closer lawyer told the press the fines were “exaggerated for a simple matter” but later claimed he was “pleased”.

A spokeswoman of the palace told the Reuters, “This incident was a serious breach of privacy, and Their Royal Highnesses felt it essential to pursue all legal remedies. They wished to make the point strongly that this kind of unjustified intrusion should not happen.”

Meanwhile, Kensington Palace recently announced that Kate is pregnant with the couple’s third child and she cancelled all public events due to morning sickness. The Duchess experienced extreme morning sickness in all three of her pregnancies.

Canadians are now seen as gender neutral on their passports under changes that are welcomed by rights and change campaigners.

In a statement announcing the changes, Immigration Minister Ahmed Hussen said, “All Canadians should feel safe to be themselves, live according to their gender identity and express their gender as they choose.” He added, “By introducing an ‘X’ gender designation in our government-issued documents, we are taking an important step towards advancing equality for all Canadians regardless of gender identity of expression.”

At the moment, disclosing the gender is mandatory on all travel documents under the International Civil Aviation Organization standard rules.

However, Helen Kennedy, executive director of Egale, a Canadian organization that promotes LGBT human rights questions the necessity of gender markers on passports in the first place.

Kennedy acknowledges that Canada is taking an important and positive first step by acknowledging the challenges faced by non-binary, intersex and trans individuals.

She stressed, “Many people will benefit from having the option of choosing ‘X’ as their gender when they go file for their passport. However, it is not the ultimate solution and the addition of a gender-neutral option, as Canada is implementing it, does not address many of the underlying issues faced by these folks.”

But to her, the more important thing to successfully increase the safety of the LGBT community is that Canada to lobby internationally to remove gender markers on passports, as well as break down existing barriers that are preventing access to gender autonomy in Canada.

Meanwhile, despite the LGBT community’s victory, conservatives are outraged and scoffs at the idea claiming that the move further enhances the false ideology of “gender fluidity”.

Senior political strategist of Campaign Life Coalition, Jack Fonseca believes that the move was harmful. He said, “The government trying to force its citizenry, en masse, to deny scientific fact and biological reality.”

He claims that it’s harmful and dangerous for children who are “at risk of sexual confusion by the further societal normalization” of transgenderism. He told the LifeSiteNews in an email, “Canadians are harmed by unwittingly but systematically being trained to deny the evidence of their own eyes.” Further, he said it will hurt people suffering with the mental illness of gender dysphoria by corroborating the illusion they can alter their sex.

Whether or not gender identification is necessary in official travel documents, we human should always be mindful of each other’s well-being. It may be harmful and dangerous to some but at the same time it is liberating for others. In these confusing times, I believe it is more important to be aware of one’s own identity and be understanding of each other’s choices.

Her stint as an adult performer in the porn industry attracted criticism from a lot of Middle Eastern people who branded her as a “disgrace” to their religion. Selling erotic materials is banned in nearly every Muslim country except Lebanon and Turkey.

She claims that the tattoos were meant to show solidarity with her father’s political views after a bombing in Lebanon in 2012. Critics of course accused the former porn star of shaming Lebanon when performing the adult films with these tattoos on her body.

Last year the Australian Parliament relaxed its restrictions on children in the parliamentary chamber after multiple incidents caused for other Member of Parliament to miss important votes and speaking engagement due to the feeding sessions.

However, recent developments have seen the trailblazing senator forced to unexpectedly resign from her position.

In the weeks prior to her resignation, a colleague had discovered that he was ineligible for Parliamentary office due to holding a dual citizenship, and was required to step down from his position.

This prompted Senator Waters to ask her lawyers to look into her own eligibility. It was discovered that she did indeed hold dual citizenship with Canada despite leaving the country of her birth at eleven months of age.

The failure to renounce her citizenship prior to her election disqualifies her from the Parliament.
In a teary press conference, the Senator announced the oversight and her intention to step down. Once again speaking with her baby in hand.

Regardless of one’s opinion on how appropriate her display of public breastfeeding was, it cannot be denied that it took courage. Pictures were broadcast all around the world and it brought the issue once again into the public eye.

Being the funny girl that she is and proving that she’s been doing some stunts in the film, she posted on her twitter account, “Slaying my mild concussion suffered today! Won’t be doing any crazy stunts the next few days though!”

The 37-year old gave also posted on her Instagram account with the caption, “Started the day with a fall that led to mild concussion.”

She came back in style and full of confidence adding to the gorgeous photo of her saying, “…yet somehow looking not bad at 7pm.” She didn’t also forget to mention her gratitude noting, “Thank you to everyone on Long Island who helped me today in the emergency room and ambulance x.”

Wilson is not new to physical scenes but it seems that she is really getting more than enough in the set of the romantic comedy film. Last month, she was spotted performing a seriously slapstick stunt in NYC. But the actress has said that she’s letting her stunt double take over when things get really dangerous. The stunt double was seen standing in scenes in which a Halal food cart knocked her to the ground.

It wasn’t clear yet how the Australian actress fell during shooting but there were several recent paparazzi photos from the set that shows the actress getting struck by a car for a scene in the movie. Nor was it divulged by any of Wilson’s reps. They didn’t immediately commented on her condition or the real reason behind her injury.

Wilson has been in New York City filming the said movie which she co-stars with fellow Australian Liam Hemsworth, Priyankra Chopra and Pitch Perfect co-star Adam Devine. According to the IMDb, the movie follows a young woman disenchanted with love mysteriously finds herself trapped inside a romantic comedy.

Isn’t It Romantic which is directed by Todd Strauss-Schulson is expected to be released on February of 2019.

Besides shooting the film, the actress will also be busy in the next upcoming months promoting the third and the final installment of the hit musical series, Pitch Perfect 3. Together with Anna Kendrick and the rest of the Bellas, it may be their last call to perform on stage for the film. The film will debut on December 22 this year.

No matter the structure of the film, there would be times when an actor will always do his or her own stunts for the sake of the movie. Not only for adventure and action movies but even as comedians or dramatic actors go, they also have their own experience of some quite dangerous stunts. As for Rebel Wilson, the fans are happy that it’s not that serious and she’s back on track. We’ll sure speculate how it happened after we watch Isn’t It Romantic.
