Disney and Marvel Studios should have just titled the movie “Captain America vs. Iron Man” and pit it directly against Warner Bros and DC Comics “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice” because the latest promotional art for its upcoming movie “Captain America: Civil War” seems to indicate so.
The new promo art clearly delineates the Marvel superheroes as to which side they belong in the movie, whether they belong to Team Captain America or Team Iron Man.
While there have been previous reports as to how the Avengers will divide themselves over the issue of Superhero Registration Act, the delineation of the alliance has never been made clear on the picture and the promo art did just that.
On the left side of the promo art is Team Captain America featuring Captain America, played by Chris Evans, Ant-Man, played by Paul Rudd, the Winter Soldier, played by Sebastian Stan, Hawkeye, played by Jeremy Renner, the Falcon, played by Anthony Mackie, and Agent 13, played by Emily VanCamp.
The new addition is Agent 13, which has never been in previous reports.
On the right side of the promo art is Team Iron Man featuring Iron Man, played by Robert Downey Jr., the Black Widow, played by Scarlett Johansson, the Black Panther, played by Chadwick Boseman, War Machine, played by Don Cheadle, and the Vision, played by Paul Bettany, details Comicbook.com.
Interestingly, Spider-Man, which is rumored to be part of Team Captain America and Scarlet Witch, which is rumored to be part of Team Iron Man, are not in the promo art.
Movie merchandise start hitting shelves
With the release of the new promo art for “Captain America: Civil War,” merchandise items have also started hitting shelves, which is a good promotional boost for the film, months before its May 6 playdate, details Heroic Hollywood.
“Captain America: Civil War” will find Steve Rogers leading the newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity.
But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure started mounting to establish a system of accountability among the superheroes.
A governing body was designated to oversee and direct the team. However, the new regulation has divided the Avengers, one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the superheroes to remain free to defend humanity without government interference.
And the other is Tony Stark, who surprisingly decides to support government oversight and accountability.
Possible superhero deaths
There were rumors that Captain America will die in his third movie “Captain America: Civil War” which seems absurd right from the onset since it is his film and it is unlikely for the star-spangled superhero to meet his demise as the movie’s premiere protagonist.
Of late, however, speculations are rife that there will indeed be an Avenger death in the third movie of the Captain America trilogy when it hits global theaters. Accordingly, it will not just be one death but actually three Avenger deaths but that none of them will be Captain America.
Based on latest rumors, the three potential Avenger deaths in the movie possibly include Don Cheadle’s War Machine, Elizabeth Olson’s Scarlet Witch, and Anthony Mackie’s The Falcon.
War Machine made it first to speculations following the release of a shot of the movie showing Tony Stark cradling an apparently lifeless James Rhodes a.k.a. War Machine, which was also briefly shown in the latest trailer for the film. But whether War Machine is dead or just injured is not clear.
