‘Captain America: Civil War’ Lives Up to Expectations, Says Falcon Actor Anthony Mackie

Anthony Mackie isn’t one to keep his bold statements to himself. The 37-year-old actor recently spoke to IGN while promoting his other upcoming film “Triple 9″ and spoke about ‘”Captain America: Civil War.”

Anthony proclaimed that the latest installment to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, “Captain America: Civil War” is the best Marvel movie ever made.

Mackie will be reprising his role of Sam Wilson and his alter-ego the Falcon in the upcoming superhero film.

Going into details, “The Hurt Locker” star said that the best Marvel movies thus far have been Captain America: Winter Soldier” and “Iron Man.” He adds that the third Cap movie surpasses those two.

Mackie also went on to congratulate the Russo brothers on how they were able to amp the ante on every Marvel movie.

When asked how he feels being part of the MCU family, Anthony said that it was nothing but fun, singling out that he got to hang out a lot with Robert Downey Jr.

“Captain America: Civil War” hits theaters on May 6 and will revolve around the Avengers’ great divide with Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers/ Captain America and Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark/Iron Man leading the opposite sides.

The events of the film will take place one year after the events from “Avengers: Age of Ultron” where another international incident involving the Avengers result in collateral damage.

This prompts politicians to form a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to call in the Avengers in times of danger.

This results to fracturing the team into two opposing factions. Rogers’ team wishes to operate without regulation from the government whereas Stark’s team seem to be fine with working with government oversight.

While the two teams are busy fighting for what they want, they must set aside all their conflicts to protect the world from a new enemy.

The film is the third stand-alone Captain America movie following 2011’s “Captain America: First Avenger” and 2014’s “Captain America: Winter Soldier.” It is also the 13th installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe lineup.

“Captain America: Civil War” is still three months away but the hype of it has never really ceased since it has been given a premiere date. The most recent of which was the newest TV spot released during Super Bowl Sunday early this month.

All the newest teasers aired during the commercial break before the Super Bowl so it was sure that viewers were already tuned in to see the latest Marvel tease.

The trailer excited fans as it featured new clips that aren’t from previous teasers and trailers. The short trailer posed a question to fans if they are on Team Cap’s side or rooting for Team Stark.

As per Collider, other movie teasers played during the annual football event were DC’s “Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice,” “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2,” “Independence Day: Resurgence,” “10 Cloverfield Lane,” “Jungle Book,” and “X-Men: Apocalypse.”

According to Variety, despite premiering with a slew of highly anticipated films this year, the “Captain America: Civil War” TV spot dominated social media. The latest “Captain America: Civil War” clip generated 196,000 conversations on Twitter and Facebook alone.

Another update “Captain America: Civil War” got was the newest promo art released recently. In the latest image, Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man finally got some well-deserved recognition.
