Parent Herald reports that the 12th season will be shortened to only 12 episodes. Showrunner and series creator Hart Hanson will be writing the series finale.
There are also rumors that the 12th and final season will bring back many familiar faces. TV Line reports that producers are planning to bring back Eric Millegan in the upcoming season.
Millegan played Zack Addy on the show. Addy was Brennan’s graduate student and intern. He was a series regular for the first three seasons and was downgraded to guest star in Season 4 and Season 5.
Peterson says that they have already tapped Millegan to reprise his role and that bringing Addy back on the show is the right thing to do especially for the fans as Addy, also known as Z-Man, is a fan-favorite.
The “Bones” stars are happy with the success of the show and already have extended their gratitude to all their fans for the love and support they have given the show since the beginning.
Speaking to TV Line, Boreanaz says that the 12th season is really dedicated for all their fans. He also expressed his gratitude to Fox network. Deschanel, on the other hand, teases that the show will have the ending it deserves.
