Ben Affleck, who will be playing the role of the Caped Crusader in the upcoming DC movie “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice” has just revealed that US Senator Patrick Leahy from Vermont will have bit role on the superhero film.

Affleck was actually testifying at a hearing before the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Diplomacy and National Security as the founder of the Eastern Congo Initiative, details Esquire.

The actor was there to testify and discuss the issue of foreign aid and diplomacy to the Eastern Congo. But before zeroing in on the issue, he actually took the liberty to acknowledge Senator Patrick Leahy as his co-star in “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice.”

He said that he would be remiss if he did not acknowledge Senator Leahy whose role in the movie is smaller than his but actually delivers good performance for the bit part.

The acknowledgment drew smiles and giggles from the Senators including Leahy as well as the crowd in attendance during the hearing. Leahy appears to be very happy with his role in the upcoming superhero film that would hit theaters on March 25, 2016.

A regular in Batman films

The Vermont Democrat Senator has been a regular fixture in past Batman movies so much so that there were rumors earlier that he will again be making an appearance in “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice.”

Many fans of the Batman film franchise observed that Senator Leahy is actually the only one which connects the “Dark Knight” trilogy with “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice,” a comment which was more of a jest than a keen observation.
