Game developer Visceral Games has launched the first expansion pack of the first-person shooter video game “Battlefield Hardline” on June 16 that had gamers excited with delight. The game is less than four months old and here come an expansion pack already, which came via DLC and has an official title of “Criminal Activity.”
“Criminal Activity” is the first of four DLCs that the game developer has lined up for release before “Battlefield Hardline” turns one year in March of 2016.
The new content came with a new game mode, several new maps and new weapons which gave all the right reasons to gamers and fans to be happy about the game and the developer for releasing an update that soon.
However, there have been reports from some gamers on the PlayStation 4 who purchased “Battlefield Hardline” Ultimate Edition that they cannot access the DLC a few days after it was released, notes Polygon.
The gamers posted their complaints on the game’s forum site and claimed that they can download the DLC alright, but the main game does not recognize the installation.
However, gamers who own the “Battlefield Hardline” Deluxe Edition on all platforms have no problems at all with the DLC. This comes as a surprise since the Ultimate Edition is priced nearly twice as much as the Deluxe Edition.
But a member of the development team from the game development company immediately addressed the concerns of gamers by saying that they are already looking at all the digital version of the game on the PS4 to ensure that everyone can download the “Battlefield Hardline” DLC just fine and install it and subsequent updates on their consoles with no hassle.
New patch after the DLC
Less than two weeks after the release of the game’s first DLC, EA DICE, which is also collaborating with Visceral Games in the development of “Battlefield Hardline” released the Patch 1.03 to the game across all gaming platforms.
The latest update added a couple of wonderful things to the “Criminal Activity” DLC including a new game mode, new maps, as well as several weapons for gamers to choose and use while playing the expansion pack, reports Youth Health Mag.
The Patch 1.03 also contained several bug fixes and solutions to some technical issues that were seen to be plaguing the “Criminal Activity” DLC. It was also meant to improve the gameplay for “Criminal Activity.”
The latest update brings along four new maps namely Backwoods, Black Friday, Code Blue, and The Beat. It also gives the player a new game mode where he will take on the role of a bounty hunter.
There are also five new weapons that came with the patch including the pump-action shotgun enforcer KSG-12, the battle rifle enforcer FN FAL, the battle rifle enforce, nail gun, SG 510, a battle pickup, and the M1A1 – SMG for all classes.
It also came with two new vehicles, four masks, and two new types of ammunition for weapons and a new gadget which is a tactical toolkit to allow for faster interaction speed with objects.
Sustaining its critical reception
“Battlefield Hardline” continues to draw critical reception from both gamers and critics. In fact, when it was rolled out to the retail markets in the US in March, it came out as the best-selling video game in the country for that month, validating the rave reviews and praises that developer Visceral Games had gotten as a result of its work with “Battlefield Hardline.”
Unlike the previous games in the Battlefield series, “Battlefield Hardline” zeroes in on crime, heist, and policing elements, instead of military warfare.
Game critics praised “Battlefield Hardline” for its multiplayer mode, its voice acting, and accessibility while blasting the game’s plot, stealth, and narrative.
The new DLC combined with the subsequent patch gave players another opportunity to make a name for themselves as law enforcers in the fast-paced highly-destructible maps that are peppered with small-time criminal jobs.
