Avatar 2 Reportedly Hit by Another Delay of at Least One Year, More Details!

It’s been a long time since “Avatar” came out and broke box office records, and fans of the original film have been waiting for a sequel for nearly six years now. And while we’ve known that the new film is going to take some time and it’s not going to be ready overnight, it’s starting to look like it will be a long wait for fans of the production to see its sequel.

According to recent reports, there has been another delay in the production of “Avatar 2”, and the film has now been pushed back with one year. According to sources allegedly close to the production, the original plan was to have it ready for the holiday season of 2016, but work has been going rather slowly in some aspects, leading James Cameron to the decision to delay it by one more year.

Among the reasons for the delay, James Cameron has reportedly been having trouble acquiring the kind of technology that he needs in order to create the scenes that he has planned. He is waiting for some specialized technology that will allow him to perform motion capture underwater, for example, and he’s planning to feature the depths of Pandora’s ocean in the new film.

On the other hand, Cameron apparently also wants to get ahead with writing the script for the film’s two sequels – that’s right, for those who haven’t heard, it’s going to be a trilogy now – as he wants them to be ready for 2017 and 2019, respectively. Because of this, the release of “Avatar 2” might be delayed until the director is done with the script for the next film. While some fans have claimed that this doesn’t make much sense for them, we should keep in mind that Cameron might have some very specific release plans in mind that we can’t figure out from an outside perspective.

There is a silver lining in all of this, however – according to James Cameron, once he has acquired all the new technology that he needs to realize his plans, this should significantly speed up his work on the sequel, and it should help him deliver it much faster to his fans. In other words, we’re not only going to get “Avatar 2” done quickly, but “Avatar 3” might also not take so much time once Cameron has all the tools he needs to produce the film exactly like he envisions it.

One major problem related to the scripts has reportedly been that Cameron has a lot more planned for the franchise than he can realistically fit into two more films, and he’s been trying to cut out different parts of the script in order to make everything work together nicely. We don’t know what kinds of ideas are going to be removed from the final version of “Avatar 2” because of this, but hopefully Cameron isn’t going to take out something that could potentially be of huge interest to fans.

Still, this is one of the directors who definitely know what they are doing and he’s proven it time and time again. He’s especially skilled when it comes to observing what his fans want and sticking to that, and we have no doubt that we’re going to see some amazing ideas implemented into the next “Avatar” once it’s ready. And we’re also pretty sure that we’re not going to hear anything at all about the juiciest details until the films are ready for release.
