After much speculation, the release date of the second season of the Japanese anime TV series “Attack on Titan” has been confirmed to happen in February 2017 although no exact date has been given out yet by the producers. At this time, fans of the anime are looking forward to the release of the first trailer of the TV series soon, if not sooner.
Latest reports have it that Season 2 of “Attack on Titan” shall be dealing more about the back story before the apocalyptic world came to be and leading to the emergence of the Titans, reports the Parent Herald.
The first season of the anime TV series did not explain how the Titans came to be or why and how the surviving group of people is confined within the walls to avoid the Titans. That is precisely what the Season 2 is going to answer when it finally unfolds in February next year.
With that premise of the plotline, Season 2 shall also be delving into the story of the Reiss family and how Historia Reiss, also known as Krista Lenz and the daughter of Rod Reiss, went on to join the Survey Corps.
The second season shall also focus on explaining the use of the ‘Coordinate’ and how the Reiss family was able to use it to gain power.
More fierce Titans
There are also reports saying that the second season of “Attack on Titan” shall feature more fierce and scarier Titans. Some would even be found to be hiding within the fortress.
In fact, there will be a new beast Titan that shall appear and it would resemble an ape that can brutally slaughter its opponent just by its sheer force alone.
Because it shall dwell on the back story of what happened before the emergence of the Titans and the fortress, it also becomes clear that Season 2 of “Attack on Titan” shall not be a direct sequel to Season 1, and shall actually deviate from its manga source material.
The only thing that “Attack on Titan” Season 2 may have as similarity with the manga series is that the Survey Corps will still kill those large Titans.
A Titan with human intelligence
There are also reports saying that a new foe or a friend will come into play in Season 2 and his name is Zeke, a Titan who can also transform himself just like Eren but is intelligent, unlike any other Titans.
The Titan shall have human-like intelligence but shall have a weird appearance. It is going to be a massive Titan who shall be showing off its intelligence and uncanny tricks in the upcoming season, notes the Christian Times.
There is also going to be a human-eating monster that shall be introduced in Season 2 of “Attack on Titan.”
Before it was announced that the second season of “Attack on Titan” will return to the small screen in February 2017, most of the speculations about TV series are about what the story arcs are going to be for its second season.
It has been reported that the TV series is just waiting for its Japanese manga source material to complete four story arcs before the second season returns to the small screen.
Reports have it that Season 2 of “Attack on Titan” might reveal the mystery of the titan inside the wall and when it does unravel, the militia will eventually find out the true identity of the bigger enemy lurking within the walls.
Mangaka or author Hajime Isayama writes and draws the anime, which was first launched in 2009. The franchise has since branched out and evolved from there.
In fact, “Attack on Titan” now has four spin-off manga, two live-action films, one anime season released in 2013, and a spin-off anime series “Attack on Titan Junior High.”
While Isayama has yet to state the exact airing date of “Attack on Titan” Season 2 back then, the reports were fairly consistent in saying that the TV series shall return to the small screen early next year.
