It’s already been revealed that Miley Cyrus will be hosting MTV’s VMAs next month, and now some of the nominees have started to surface as well. Some of the details remain a bit confusing, but some names have been confirmed for sure at this point, such as Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift. The two are among the nominees for this year’s awards along with various other well-known names like Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars for their “Uptown Funk”.
Taylor Swift has been nominated together with Kendrick Lamar for “Bad Blood” in the Best Collaboration category, while Ariana Grande’s nomination in the same category is together with The Weeknd for “Love Me Harder”. We also have Jessie J, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minajr for “Bang Bang”, and Wiz Khalifa with Charlie Puth for “See You Again”.
There are also categories such as “video with a social message”, “best hip-hop video”, “best rock video” and more. There are separate categories for best female and male performance as well, but we’ve noticed that while Taylor Swift is present in that category, Ariana Grande is not. We don’t know if the list is final but it looks like Grande might only be considered for awards related to her collaboration with other stars, and not her individual work.
Other performance in the “best female performance” category include Beyonce for “7/11”, Nicki Minaj and Sia. Ellie Goulding is also on the list for “Love Me Like You Do”, while the male version of the list has Ed Sheeran, Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd and Nick Jonas. More names might be announced over the next weeks as well, as there is still some time before the awards air.
The event is scheduled to be presented from the Microsoft Theater in LA and it’s scheduled for August 30. With a little over a month to go until it arrives, we expect more revelations to come to the surface, and we also expect that fans will start discussing the upcoming awards quite actively too.
There have already been some very active discussions among MTV’s fans as well as fans of the different performers involved in the awards, and now that we’ve seen some of the nomination lists, there will probably be a lot more arguments and debates in the various related Internet forums as well.
That’s part of the fun for some fans though – these arguments add a lot to the excitement of the awards for some people, and they love to argue about what we might see once the time for the awards comes. It’s pretty much guaranteed that we’re going to see some interesting announcements at this point, but speculations are all we have until the event actually airs.
Meanwhile, Meghan Tonjes, a YouTube celebrity, has been expressing her disappointment with Ariana Grande. According to her, Grande is actually indicative of a much greater problem in society right now, and she has been quite displeased with the way the singer has been acting in public.
She explained that she found it inappropriate how Grande tried to shift the subject to overweight people in general, and that it was repulsive that she would lick those donuts in the first place. Grande has been causing harm to society with her actions, according to Tonjes, and the YouTube celebrity seems to have quite a lot to say about the way Grande has been behaving. However, Grande herself has been refraining from a response so far.
