Just barely a year after they split in February 2014, rumors are now going around that singers Katy Perry and John Mayer may be back together again as a couple after they were spotted having dinner over at a common friend’s house in Beverly Hills during the past weekend.
The New York Daily said that after dinner John reportedly spent the night at Katy’s and did not leave until after the following afternoon. So it is unlikely that the dinner was just a chance encounter.
Although it was reported that the two pop stars arrived separately for the dinner and even took the extra precaution of not being seen together.
Representatives of Perry and Mayer were not available to make any comment about the rumored reunion of the two pop stars.
Friends with benefits?
Jezebel opines that the two may indeed be back again despite a pronouncement by somebody close to them that the two have already buried the hatchet and were moving on with their lives as good friends. The site thinks that their new relationship is anything but platonic and if the two are just friends as they say they are, then they are also enjoying its fringe benefits too.
The 30-year-old Katy Perry and the 37-year-old John Mayer began dating in the summer of 2012. Katy was just coming off a 14-month marriage to Russell Brand. John Mayer, on the other hand, was previously in a relationship with Jennifer Aniston.
While they were together, there have been speculations that the two singers had gotten engaged only to announce on February 2014 that they have decided to split up.
After they went separate ways, Katy Perry was subsequently romantically linked to DJ Diplo but the pop singer said that their relationship was never serious.
Too many breakups
Towards the latter part of the year, there came out a report that the “Fireworks” singer has undergone psychological therapy to deal with her break-ups that seem to have hounded his love life in a span of less than five years.
Katy was quoted as saying after coming out of therapy that she needed to love herself first before she can establish a foundation of true love with a partner. She also added that if she needed to value herself more so that she can put value and love others the way she wants to.
The “Roar” singer also said that she wants a partner who would not be intimidated neither by her stature nor her career as a popular pop star.
Katy said that most of the guys that she has had relationship with over the past couple of years said that they are not intimidated, threatened, or resentful of her celebrity status or career but the issue always comes out after a while.
