Apple iPod 6 Touch 6G: Will it be a Hit or a Miss?

Apple is known to release upgraded variants of the iPod every year. However, the craze seems to have died down considerably. Even till a few days ago fans were waiting intently for Apple to make a big announcement revealing the official release date of the iPod 6 Touch 6G on October 16th.

The date came and passed, but the Cupertino superpower was yet to unveil or even mention the iPod 6 Touch 6G at least once! This proves the fact that the earlier announcements were purely fan-bred and baseless.

So the question now is when does Apple plan on launching the upgraded sixth generation iPod? Will it witness the light of day anytime within 2014? According to a report published by Mac Rumors, Apple is believed to have postponed the official release of the device to the first quarter of 2015.

If this report is to be believed, we can clearly state that the iPod 6 Touch 6G releases somewhere close to the iWatch, if not alongside! Primary reports also suggest that delays during testing are the reason behind Apple’s inability to release the sixth gen iPod on time.

Rumors further suggest the possibility of two distinct iPods, much like the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, even though this is unconfirmed for now. Experts believe that Apple wants to dig deeper into the #Bendgate issue in order to prevent it from reappearing in any other devices.

This is a labor intensive process and could take up considerable amount of time. Experts have further speculated about the iPod 6 Touch 6G’s overall entertain capability, and many believe that Apple plans on adding much more than just an audio player to keep the fans happy.

We could be looking at Retina Display or Touch ID compatibility, better display resolutions and iWatch compatibility for example. It will be great if Apple incorporates all or even some of these features in the upcoming iPod 6 Touch 6G.

The device is expected to be available in a 128 GB variant as well while personalization touches are to be included too. Expect anything between five to six unique skins on the device at the least.

Official images of the device are expected to surface soon, although, the internet is presently fluffed with fan-made renderings. It is interesting to view the fans’ take on what the upcoming device should look like, and we hope Apple is watching!

In terms of pricing, Apple should follow a similar strategy as compared to their other devices. Hence, we expect prices of the iPod 5 Touch to decrease drastically post launch. The iPod 6 Touch 6G is likely to feature a $299 price tag for the 16 GB variant and $399 for the 128 GB. Choose wisely!
