After Apple released the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in September 2014, smartphone users are now looking forward to the next iPhone lines which are rumored to be released in autumn this year. Latest reports indicate that the upcoming iPhone 7 will allegedly sport an e-SIM as a new feature. The rumors about the iPhone 7 started going around as early as April this year and accordingly, the upcoming iPhone will be a lot better than the previous model.
Some sites even predicted the exact release date of the next iPhone from Apple according to the Herald Recorder. The Macworld website guessed that the launch of the latest iPhone product will be in September since it has practically become a company’s tradition to launch its latest iPhones during that month. Just like the previous releases, Macworld also predicted that the launch will introduce two smartphone versions, similar to what happened last year with the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
The PC Advisor UK is predicting September 8 as the launching date of iPhone 7 based on Apple’s product release history. It particularly backtracked on history to drive home its point by citing that the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C were released on September 10 while the previous two iPhone models, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus were launched on September 9. In addition, September 12 was the launching date for iPhone 5. The outlet noted that Apple often choose Tuesday as the day of its release for its iPhones so September 8 is the likely release date for the iPhone 7.
Moreover, Macworld predicted that the iPhone 7 will have a display screen size of 4.7 inches while the iPhone 7 Plus will sport 5.5 inches for its display screen. The sizes were preferred by users and those are actually the exact dimensions of the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus, respectively.
As of this time, Apple has not given an exact date as to when it shall be releasing its new iPhone lines. However, according to The Wall Street Journal, Apple already ordered a Chinese contractor to manufacture 85 to 95 million units of iPhone 7 this summer as preparation for the product’s release later this year.
More proofs also emerged that the iPhone 7 is bound to be released soon as 9to5Mac obtained leaked images of the product’s actual look. The photos allegedly came from a reliable source that is familiar with the supply chain of Apple. The pictures of the rumored iPhone 7 show that the upcoming product is quite similar to iPhone 6 including its thickness and width.
Nevertheless, the internal parts of the alleged iPhone 7 are different from iPhone 6. This might mean that the changes made on the next iPhones were more on the interior parts rather than the exterior appearance. Aside from the internal parts, 9to5Mac pointed out in their second published report that the latest iPhone products will feature double LTE download speed since the chip to be used is the new Qualcomm LTE.
Just like in the Apple Watch and the new Apple MacBook, iDigital Times said that there are speculations that iPhone 7 will also feature Force Touch. This enhancement can hard press the product’s screen or trackpad. For example, in Apple’s smartwatch, Force Touch was used to reveal extra options that might occupy some spaces in the screen. It can also change clock faces. However, it might not do much for iPhone 7 since the surface area of the smartphone is wider.
One of the new features that the iPhone 7 is rumored to have is the latest SIM card technology, the e-SIM. With this advancement, there will be no need to replace the SIM card to be able to switch from one network to another. Instead, the device’s user interface can do this by itself. Therefore, switching between different carriers would be much convenient. Due to this feature, the iPhone 7 can have a more flawless design compared to previous models.
