More than 17 months after its official release on September 20, 2013, a number of Apple iPhone users are still holding on to their iPhone 5S rather than switch to the larger and newer iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus.
People who like to get their money’s worth on their existing smartphones would surely not be caught up with the frenzy and lure of the larger and newer models especially if the current one still serves its purpose and continues to meet all their communications and entertainment needs.
The Apple iPhone 5S is one of those smartphones. It is very much capable of doing the things that most of its users would like it to do, better than some of the current smartphones today that is why many users are still hanging onto it.
While the iPhone 5S does not have the widgets and customizations features as well as the larger display screens of today’s bigger Android phones and the larger iPhones, it is still at par with the latest smartphones when it comes to ergonomics.
Trusted Reviews actually noted that if iPhone 5S users can afford to buy a new but certainly pricier iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, it’s okay to join the bandwagon and enjoy the larger iPhone’s slick design and various new features.
However, if the user still likes his smartphone petite and still very functional, sticking to the iPhone 5S is always a good option.
One of the best phones of 2013
The Apple iPhone 5S is regarded as one of the best, if not the best, smartphones that were launched in 2013.
While its 4-inch screen size is already passé since the current standard appears to be in the range of 4.7 inches to 5.1 inches, the iPhone 5S can still hold its own in terms of resolution, brightness, and responsiveness.
The aluminum body of the iPhone 5S still feels premium and solid and showing it around in the company of others who have their latest smartphones with them will not make it an outcast but actually one with the crowd.
Performance-wise, the iPhone 5S is still blisteringly fast and reliable, which makes it well-loved by users. Despite problems of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus with the iOS 8.0 when it was launched in September 2014, the iPhone 5S runs perfectly with the OS. And it would surely be better if it takes on the OTA update for iOS 8.2 very soon.
The Touch ID of the iPhone 5S is one of the most talked-about features of the smartphone which has now been transposed to the larger iPhones. The feature is a fingerprint scanner located at the home button that lets the user unlocks the smartphone without requiring a PIN or password.
While the camera of the iPhone 5S already pales in comparison with that of the larger iPhones or the latest flagship smartphones from a number of companies, it’s still a lot better than many of its contemporary smartphones.
My iphone 5S is still kicking. I am not about to upgrade to either the 6 (not big enough) or 6 Plus (too big). If the 6S and 6S Plus are the same form factors, I will be skipping those too.
